Jan-27-13  Karposian: Winner of Tata Steel C-group 2013. Bravo Sabino!! E forza Italia!!
Jan-27-13  Karpova: Impressive win with 11/13 (+9 =4 -0): Tata Steel (Group C) (2013)

Performance of 2764 (http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail...)

Jul-28-13  SimonWebbsTiger: Sabino must have had some birthday luck his way. In round 1 of the Politiken Cup (28 July) 2013, he won an endgame despite the material being rook and four pawns versus his rook and bishop!
Aug-06-13  Karpova: In Fabiano's shadow, he has established himself as Italy's 2nd best player and with another strong showing at Politiken Cup (2013) with a 7th place (places 2-8 shared 8.0/10 points - http://www.ksu.dk/politiken_cup/tur... -) with a score of +8 =0 -2 and a performance of 2627 - http://chess-results.com/tnr81987.a...

His new rating will be 2602 according to the official site http://www.ksu.dk/politiken_cup/tur...

Penguincw: Congratz to Sabino Brunello for winning the Durban Open 2014 (and also 18.4 rating points)! He finished with 9/11, edging out Sahaj Grover on the 2nd tiebreaks 65.5-62.5 (whatever it was). Brunello would've never won if it weren't for the black draw against Grover in Round 4 or the white win against Gupta in Round 7. Gupta finished half a point behind.

The only other Italian at the event was Axel Rombladoni, who finished with 7/11.

Jul-13-16  CountryGirl: Interesting player. Despite authoring a nice book on the Spanish, his record as black with this appears woeful. He seems to have much better stats with the Caro-Kann or Sicilian. ChessGames does not have many French Advance games of his, but apparently he is an absolute killer with this system, scoring over 80%.
