Grandmaster norms (1)
Tomczak won his three GM norms at the 4th Polonia Wroclaw Open in June 2006, scoring the norm requisite of 6/9; at the World Junior Championship (2010) in August 2010, scoring 6.5/9 in his first 9 rounds, half a point above the norm requisite; and at the 22nd Cracovia International Open in December 2011-January 2012, scoring the requisite 7/9.
Tomczak's GM title came into effect on 4 January 2012 at the age of 21 years 9 months and 30 days upon the completion of round nine of the Cracovia Open, as his rating was already above 2500.
Championships
<Youth> Tomczak won the world U16 championship of 2006 in Batumi, Georgia.
<Junior> He was =7th with 8.5/13 at the World Junior Championship (2010) where he won his 2nd GM norm.
<University> He was =4th at the World University championship 2012 in Portugal and =1st at the 27th World Summer Universiade in July.
<National> =6th with 5/9 at the 2013 Polish championship. He scored 4.5/9 at the Polish Championship in 2014 and placed =3rd in the Polish Championship in 2015 behind Grzegorz Gajewski and Maciej Klekowski.
Tournaments
<2012> Placed =1st alongside Marcin Szelag at the Rostock Open in August. Outright 1st with 4.5/5 at the 5th U Styku Trzech Granic held in Bogatynia, Poland at the end of December.
<2013> Placed =1st alongside Stellan Brynell and Rene Stern at the Rostock International Open in July. Clear first with 8/9, a point ahead of Wojciech Przybylski, in the XXI Nationwide Chess Festival in Poznan in August.
<2014> Clear first by two points on 8.5/9 in Group A of the 10th Jubilee International Chess Festival in Lazy, Poland in June 2014. 2nd behind Kamil Dragun at the GM norm tournament the same month in Naklo nad Notecia.
<2015> =5th at the 31st Cappelle-la-Grand in 2015. Clear winner of the 11th Baltic Pearl Open 2015 in Poland, with 8/9.
Team events
<National representative> In 2008, Tomczak played top board for Poland in the European U18 Team Championship, winning team gold. He played board 3 for Poland 2 at the European Team Championship (2013).
<National Leagues> He has played in the Polish Extraliga since 2007, excluding 2008. In 2007 on board 3, and from 2009 until 2013 on top board he played for the KS Pocztowiec Poznań team, winning an individual bronze in 2011. In the 2014 season, he switched to the powerful Akademia Szachowa Future Processing Gliwice team, and playing on board 5 he won team bronze and individual gold.
Played in the Bundesliga North in 2013-14 season and played for the SSC Rostock 07 in the Bundesliga's 2014-15 season. He also played board two in the TJ Tatran Litovel team in the Czech Extraliga in 2011, helping the team to win bronze.
Rating
Tomczak's rating reached 2500 in November 2009, and has remained above that level since. (2)
