Domdaniel: Kennefick died over the 2018-19 New Year. Formerly one of the strongest players in Ireland, he was the first winner of the Mulcahy tournament, held in honour of E.N. Mulcahy, a former Irish champion who died in a plane crash.

I played Kennefick just once, and had a freakish win, c. 1977.

Jan-18-19  zanzibar: I believe this is his <ChessBase> page:

https://players.chessbase.com/en/pl...

which gives his dob as ~ 1940.

Jan-18-19  zanzibar: He's in the center of the front row here:

A younger Alexander Münninghoff (of Euwe book fame(?)) is 2nd from the right in the same row.

Jan-19-19  zanzibar: Obituary notice:

https://rip.ie/death-notice/maurice...

After reading the above, and the same for <DomDaniel/Gerry McCarthy>, I wonder -

Do Irish obituaries typically omit the dob (date of birth) of the decedent?

I'm having trouble finding Kennefick's dob on the net - which I find a bit odd.
