<Jose R. Capablanca was in New Orleans on his way to New York as the guest of the New Orleans Chess Checkers and Whist club for four or five days. Two simultaneous encounters, fourteen players in each, and individual games were carried on. The only players to win games were B. V. B. Dixon on a single handed affair, and Dr. Maguire in the simultaneous performance, while two others secured draws in the latter contest.>

Has to be <Brandt Van Blarcom Dixon>, 1850-1941. From 1887-1919, he was president of the H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College, New Orleans:
