May-23-22 Showalter vs Pillsbury, 1904 (replies)

AnotherNN: Not so straightforward after all ... After 31.Re2, then Black replies 31.... e3 Then 32. Qd8+ (not 32, RxQ because of 32... pxQ+!) 32.... Qf8 33.QxQ+ RxQ 34. RxR

Apr-26-22 Carlsen vs Le Quang Liem, 2022 (replies)

AnotherNN: 39.Qd4 is a Draw?! What if 39. ... Qxb 40.Qe4+ f5; then what?

   Sep-01-21 E Song vs J Colas, 2018

AnotherNN: Seems to me 21.Bxf5 was possible, no? Black can't take B with either the pawn or rook.

Jan-21-21 Van Wely vs Karpov, 1996

AnotherNN: After 32...fxg5, White plays 33.pxe5+ and life becomes very difficult for Black. If 33... Kg8, then 34.pxd6 Qe8 (must guard f7) 35.pe5 and Black can't resist for long. If 33...Ke8, then 34.pxd6 Qxd6 35.Qf7+ followed by 36.Rf6 is difficult to defend.

   Jan-18-20 So vs Mamedyarov, 2019

AnotherNN: At move 47 White could have played RxB. Then if 47 ... PxR, then 48.Q-e4+ QxQ 49.NxQ. Much better than the actual continuation, no?

   Nov-24-15 Y Sakharov vs R Nezhmetdinov, 1957 (replies)

AnotherNN: I agree with others who said that after 31.h5+ Kxh5, the stronger move is 32.Rg7 since Black cannot stop immediate mate from White with either 33.Rf5++ or 33.g4++. If Black tries 32.Nd3, then White plays 33.Rf5+ followed by 34.g4++.

   Sep-21-15 B Khotenashvili vs N Dzagnidze, 2014

AnotherNN: For Black I had 37...Nxf2 and if 38.KxN, then 38...Rf5+.

Dec-24-14 Smyslov vs Botvinnik, 1958 (replies)

AnotherNN: Seems to me the final position doesn't look like an easy win. Should be worthy of a Wednesday Puzzle.

   Oct-20-14 Nisipeanu vs D Reinderman, 2010 (replies)

AnotherNN: It seems to me at Move 15, White could have killed it with 15.B-g7. How would Black have coped with the double threat of either Q-h8 mate or Q-h7 mate?! Might make a nice Tuesday puzzle, I think.

   Apr-25-14 V Malakhov vs Ivanchuk, 2014 (replies)

AnotherNN: I had thought Black at move 39 would play Rxf2! The Black is of course immune to capture and Black threatens 40...RxN!
