Jan-19-16 Koltanowski vs Gary Wilson, 1968
Blind Pigs: Wow! Kolty gets a little too fancy and gets wasted by a simul player. Oh, the Shame! The Shame! |

Jan-19-16 Koltanowski vs Grob, 1953
Blind Pigs: Kolty demonstrates perfect double rook endgame technique. Like watching a Capablanca game. |

Aug-10-15 Dzindzichashvili vs Benjamin, 1984
Blind Pigs: What did he know, and when did he know it? It's hard to believe Benjamin saw the resulting mate eleven moves ahead. Dzindzi had so many ways to diverge. The final few moves look Alekhinesque! |

May-12-15 Kovalenko vs E Can, 2015
Blind Pigs: What a brilliant attack by Kovalenko, crowned by the beautiful queen sac at the end. Very impressive conduct of the Bayonet Attack. |

May-10-15 Fischer vs Keres, 1959
Blind Pigs: <drukenknight: So did the Russians really prepare this line for the tournament or were they just improvising? > I doubt the Soviets conspired against RJF at this point. They probably reslized he was still a very young player, and that steering him away from the more ... |

May-10-15 Rubinstein vs Duras, 1908
Blind Pigs: I appreciated A.R.'s not swapping the N for the dark squared bishop. Seems obvious that this would probably lead to a draw (as opposed to swapping it for thr light squared bishop in a couple moves), but it's surprising how many players make careless positional errors like that. |

May-08-15 Carlsen vs Vachier-Lagrave, 2015
Blind Pigs: I also think the true statistical test of a player's dominance, even more than elo, is winning percentage. How does the player stack up against his contemporaries? Capa and Fischer were head and shoulders above their peers in this regard, even more so than anyone since. |

May-06-15 Capablanca vs H L Brooke, 1919
Blind Pigs: <Jan-20-15 Tomlinsky: In the finale, Capa missed an immediate win using the very same tactic he used a little later with 26.Nf7+! > Very true, Tomlinsky, but with the irresistable pawn bait on g4 he also nets a B in addition to the exchange. Trappy style play, but it's a ... |

May-06-15 Capablanca vs W Ward, 1920
Blind Pigs: <Dec-31-14 tamar: At least play 23...Bxg3 and pray like hell.>
I doubt Capa would have missed 24. Qxg3, a piece up and with control of the center and K side. I agree with Ward's decision to preserve a shred of dignity. |
