The best things in life are either, illegal, immoral, fattening or married!

5 years ago I bought a book entitled 'Think like a Grandmaster.' I still don't think like a Grandmaster and so I am now in the process of suing Alexander Kotov.

I love this quote by Tartakower - "I make errors, therefor I am"

To avoid criticism - Say nothing, do nothing and be nothing. This is not so easy if you want to be a kibitzer at <chessgames.com>

I play the Catalan, I don't know why, I just like the name. I think it is because the very first time I heard the word 'fianchetto' it sounded like an interesting thing to do with the bishop, and I could impress my friends by telling them I had a 'fianchettoed bishop.' It didn't impress anybody, and I lost all my friends.

I started playing the Russian defence when I realised everthing associated with 'Russia and chess' had to be good!

During the Topalov v Kramnik World Championship match <DCP23: Topalov sacrificed two games for the initiative> lol. Great quote, One of the best I have heard so far. :-)

Ezzy: Caissa has a strange method of writing the scripts. Anand, convincingly beaten up by Carlsen in their WC Match. Not a big surprise when you compare Carlsen's form with Anand's form during the last few years. Anand, given only an outside chance in the candidates, decides to hit is best

Ezzy: Looked at it for 10 minutes, and it was doing my head in that I couldn't find the solution. Had a complete blindspot. Analysed to 25 Rd8 and didn't see anything, completely forgetting after 25..Rxd8 the black queen was en pris. Ah well, bad day at the office.

Ezzy: Nakamura not playing in the US Championships 2014.

Mar-15-14 Svidler vs Kramnik, 2014 (replies)

Ezzy: 'The art of defence' - Vladimir Kramnik. One of the best defensive efforts I have seen in a long time. This precision defending can save important points and make the difference of winning or losing a tournament. Great game of attack and defence. The Candidates is really hotting up!

Mar-15-14 Mamedyarov vs Anand, 2014 (replies)

Ezzy: Hmm, 17 e5? was not a good move. When the inevitable opening of the 'e' file occurs, Vishy just plays his rook to e8 threatening the skewer 20...Be2. White can't challenge on the 'e' file with his rooks because black controls e1 with his b4 bishop. Hence, white has to play 20 Bf3 ...

Ezzy: 11 f4! will probably be the novelty of the tournament. It produced a winning position two moves later :)

   Mar-14-14 Svidler vs D Andreikin, 2014 (replies)

Ezzy: A little bit of revenge for Svidler, for being knocked out of the World Cup by Andreikin.

Mar-14-14 Kramnik vs Karjakin, 2014 (replies)

Ezzy: To answer Makavelli11's question regarding why houdini prefers the excellent 26 Ra1! - it is because it threatens 27 Bd2 and if 27...Qxd4 then 28 Qa3 is a monster move threatening 29 Qxa7+ Kf8 30 Qa8+ Nxa8 31 Rxa8 MATE!! Kramnik missed this very strong idea of 26 Ra1! and swinging ...

Ezzy: A 'Higs Boson' went into the local church, and the priest said, 'sorry we don't allow 'Higs Boson's in here': to which the Higs Boson replied - 'Well how are you going to have mass without me'.

Ezzy: Motylev has a RP of 2897 going into the last round. Probably the best of his career so far!
