Sep-06-13 Anand vs Ivanchuk, 1991
Hongkonger: I got 29...d5 (it cried out to be played I thought) and the next couple of moves, but I certainly didn't see 32...Bg5 and the follow-up, I kept wanting to play Bb5+ but couldn't get it to work. |

Hongkonger: <The final position leaves me thinking that I've missed something. 36. Rxd8 looked daft until I saw 37. Qh8#; but the obvious reply of 36. ...Rxd8 does away with that. What is White up to here?> 37.Qe7 |

Apr-05-13 Lombardy vs Fischer, 1958
Hongkonger: The first Friday I have got for a while, but I have been looking at endings recently. I was sure that the key had to be to get the white king onto a3 so that black queens with check. Otherwise if both sides queen the result could be quite the opposite after white plays Qf8+. |

Hongkonger: Yes, agree with all the above, Lawrence did a brilliant job - especially on such long days. I particularly appreciated his candour when he admitted to not knowing what was going on! |
