JCigan has kibitzed 79 times to chessgames   [more...]
   Feb-13-21 Caruana vs A Esipenko, 2021
JCigan: An Englishman, that'd be because it's not an actual sacrifice of the h4 knight. White has Bg5 if Black takes.
Aug-01-20 Jacquelyn Masilomani vs Ahmad Tasneem, 2020 (replies)
JCigan: How on earth does White miss 13. Nxe7 winning a piece?
   Apr-21-20 Carlsen vs A Firouzja, 2020
JCigan: He got a fine position out of the opening so thereís no reason to give the Ragozin up
   Nov-10-19 V Artemiev vs Aronian, 2019
JCigan: How on earth does white, one of the best technicians in the world, lose the position at move 53? While the move he plays draws still - thatís how much margin for error there is - after 53. Kd3/d2 surely a draw would have been agreed on the spot.
Nov-07-19 Dubov vs Radjabov, 2019 (replies)
JCigan: Did Radjabov for real miss 57... e2, easily winning?
   Oct-05-19 S Volkov vs B Socko, 2014 (replies)
JCigan: Not a great puzzle as there are numerous wins. I had 21. Rh7 and see no reason to believe itís worse than the game move.
   Jun-28-19 L Dek vs Bacrot, 2017
JCigan: The real story here is that Bacrot blundered into a well-known opening trap (which someone first showed me when I was rated 1800) and was lost by move 12
   Apr-20-19 V Keymer vs Carlsen, 2019 (replies)
JCigan: To all those saying White queens w check, observe that White does not queen at all because the Black knight comes to e6
Oct-14-18 D Mastrovasilis vs Nodirbek Yakubboev, 2018 (replies)
JCigan: I find it very difficult to believe the move order 1 e4 e5 2 Nc3 Nf6 3 d4 d6 occurred in this high-level of a game. Clearly 3... exd4 and Black is already better. What I find more likely is that it went, say, 1 e4 d6 2 d4 Nf6 3 Nc3 e5 - this is a common Philidor move order.
   Jul-04-18 P Ponkratov vs G Oparin, 2018 (replies)
JCigan: I know Ponkratov is a strong GM, but his treatment of this opening was dreadful. Just an awful middlegame to get as white, and this isnít even a good treatment of this particular sideline (Center Game).
