JSLigon has kibitzed 11 times to chessgames   [more...]
   Jan-23-19 R Musalov vs A Allemann, 2001
JSLigon: I analyzed this line with Stockfish 10. After 8 Bf4, it likes 8... e5 for black at least up to depth 40, and then either 9 Be3 or 9 Ng5 for white. After 9 Ng5 exf4 10 Nxf7 either 10... Qd7 or 10... Qe7 is forced to avoid giving white a significant advantage. Either way white should ...
   Dec-03-18 L Savitsky vs Veresov, 1934
JSLigon: 3... Nf6 against the Two Knights is fine, 5... Bg4 isn't.
   May-06-18 Fischer vs Smyslov, 1959
JSLigon: Looks like the same position is reached after move 11 anyway, just a different move order.
   Jan-13-18 J H Donner vs Belle, 1982 (replies)
JSLigon: The computer resigned in an equal position after 12. O-O. What am I missing here?
   Jul-16-17 A Muzychuk vs A Skripchenko, 2016
JSLigon: The "rare sideline" 8. Nc4? It's the main move, 3x more popular that the second choice Nd5.
   May-28-17 G Jamrich vs M Kaposztas, 2001
JSLigon: Not sure how I thought that was the only game with 6... Bxf5. Here's another where black actually wins. K A Walbrodt vs Teichmann, 1896
May-28-17 Anders Larsson vs Spielmann, 1919
JSLigon: Spielmann handles the opening very well and builds up a dominant position. According to Stockfish his first real slip was 14... h5. Instead 14... Qe5 15. g3 h5 was much stronger.
