   Jan-17-22 Terance William Hart (replies)

John Saunders: The Hart-Bozic game given in the previous post was actually played in round 4 of the 1968 Bognor Regis competition, date 23 April 1968. The score was given in both BCM and CHESS. (Refs. BCM, June 1968, p176; "Chess", May 20th 1968, Vol.33, No.555-6, p275)

   Jan-12-22 Vera Menchik (replies)

John Saunders: At BritBase I have posted the scores of two <Vera Menchik> games which don't appear in the Robert Tanner book or Mega/Big Database 2022 or here: (1) V.Menchik 1-0 W.Winter, April 1930 Hastings Five-Player Tournament, rd 2, date 15.04.30; (2) W.Winter 1-0 V.Menchik, rd 8,

   Jan-06-22 Grace Ellis (replies)

John Saunders: As Grace Curling she won the 1908 British Ladies' Chess Championship. I wrote a blog post about her some years ago: https://johnchess.blogspot.com/2015...

   Dec-23-21 Wilfred Henry Pratten (replies)

John Saunders: On checking again I find I have the dates wrong - one day late in each case. Round 1 was on Sunday 1 September, and so on - last round 7 Saturday 7 September.

   Dec-06-21 John D Taylor

John Saunders: A name correction required: not John M Taylor but John D Taylor. He died last Thursday (2 December 2021). His d.o.b. was 20 September 1934 according to an old BCF grading list. The 'D' stood for 'Dudley'.

   Dec-03-21 Jonathan Penrose (replies)

John Saunders: The pen picture needs amendment: Jonathan Penrose was NOT an Emeritus (or Honorary) GM, he was the genuine article. The title was belatedly awarded in the 1990s following an official reassessment of his earlier performances. Link here for Leonard Barden's explanation: ...

   Nov-22-21 H G Wright

John Saunders: Regarding the four games listed here (as at 22 November 2021) as being played by HG Wright (Leicester): the Apsenieks game is correct but the other three games (involving A N Stuart, M Romi and H Mattison were played against G Wright (York) who was a different player.

   Nov-21-21 A Thomson vs J Bellin, 1987

John Saunders: Black in this game was not Tony Miles but his (then) wife Jana Miles, now Jana Bellin. White was A H Thomson - I think his forename was Alan. It was played in round 2 of the 1987 Guernsey Open, date 19 October 1987.

   Sep-30-21 Paul E Littlewood (replies)

John Saunders: Suggestion: add reference to Paul Littlewood winning the 1978 Lloyds Bank Masters to his mini-biography ( https://www.saund.org.uk/britbase/p... )

   Sep-16-21 OHRA (1983) (replies)

John Saunders: According to Informator 36 (page 342) it was L Lengyel (i.e. GM Levente Lengyel, 1933-2014) and not B Lengyel (1949-2017, untitled Bela Lengyel) who took part in this tournament. However, a contemporary Dutch Newspaper, Stichting Algemeen Dagblad, gave the 1st round draw on 15
