Knight to f6
Member since Mar-18-08 · Last seen Apr-24-16
My favourite players: Lasker, Capablanca, Alekhine, Fischer, Korchnoi, Kasparov, and Morozevich.

The name "Knight to f6" relates to my preference for the Petrov and King's Indian Defences as Black.

May-13-12 Spassky vs Petrosian, 1969 (replies)

Knight to f6: Drat, I was thinking of a double knight sac: 21. Nf5, then 22. Nd5. The idea is to open the diagonal for the bishop and unblock the f-file so that Rf7 is possible...is there a refutation?

Knight to f6: <karnak64> Actually, an exchange sacrifice like that was kind of a signature move of Petrosian's. It was rarely calculated, usually just to change the flow of the game to something he liked.

Knight to f6: Here's my guess: 1. Anand 2-3. Carlsen & Aronian 4. Nakamura 5. Ivanchuk 6. Vallejo I don't know much about Vallejo though, so those last three could be in any order. I'm just assuming Ivanchuk won't get higher than 4th after the World Cup.

Apr-05-10 Anand - Topalov World Championship Match (2010) (replies)

Knight to f6: The overall score between Anand and Topalov is 23 to 14 in Anand's favour, but since 2007 Anand has won only 3 games to 2 out of 17. In terms of tournament play this year Anand got only shared 4th in Corus A, while Topalov won Linares. It all comes down to Anand's preparation; ...

Knight to f6: <topi: Anybody knows why Topalov is not at Corus???> Yeah, I think this tournament really needs a sharp player like Topalov or Morozevich. Where are they? Not that Shirov and the others are bad, but those two really should be here... instead of Smeets and Van Wely maybe.

   Nov-13-09 Tal Memorial (2009) (replies)

Knight to f6: Anand's not gonna beat Aronian...What's Ivanchuk's record against Kramnik? That seems to be the decisive game here.

   Sep-15-09 Grischuk vs Karjakin, 2009

Knight to f6: Nice stalemate by Grischuk!

   May-18-09 M-Tel Masters (2009) (replies)

Knight to f6: 3 decisive games here: Topalov-Carlsen and both players' games against Shirov in future rounds. As Shirov already lost to Topalov once, Carlsen needs to beat Topalov to have a serious chance of a clear win.

   Apr-25-09 B Sambuev vs A Samsonkin, 2009 (replies)

Knight to f6: Nice positional restriction of Black's bishops!
