MarkBuckley has kibitzed 39 times to chessgames   [less...]
   Jan-20-20 Capablanca vs R Illa, 1911
MarkBuckley: An interesting line is 26...Kxf7 [in place of ...Kg8] 27 Qxh7+, Kf6; 28 fxg5+, Ke5?; 29 Qc7+, Bd6; 30 Qc3+, d4; 31 Qxd4 mate
   May-10-19 Karjakin vs Carlsen, 2019
MarkBuckley: Carlsen cleverly neutralized the attack signalled by 20. Bc6; after sacrificing his f5 pawn Black broke the coordination of White's pieces.
   Mar-22-19 A Volokitin vs T Baron, 2019
MarkBuckley: 36. Ra2 looked terrible, but losing? A real tragicomedy.
   Feb-28-18 S Nitin vs A Rakhmanov, 2017 (replies)
MarkBuckley: 52. Nd4?! Pretty optimistic instead of grabbing the pawn. Maybe he wasn't sure of his R+B vs R technique :)
   Jan-31-18 Ziad A Baroudi
MarkBuckley: I first played Ziad A. Baroudi in Sacramento in 1973. He was always at least high expert strength, a sharp tactician. The Sacramento Chess Club site has him playing as late as 2010 with a ~1900 rating and middle initial still "A."
   Dec-30-17 Carlsen vs E Inarkiev, 2017 (replies)
MarkBuckley: Inarkiev should have simply admitted he was trying to exploit the rules instead of claiming in the interview that he didn't realize he was in check. Well, he was named after the odious "Che." Inasmuch as Carlsen appeared to be affected in the next round--who wouldn't ...
   Dec-28-17 Carlsen vs H Wang, 2017 (replies)
MarkBuckley: Shades of Chigorin vs Tarrasch, 1898
Dec-09-17 Carlsen vs Adams, 2017 (replies)
MarkBuckley: 54...Ra5 55 Be6+ then Rd7+, Nc7+, Rf7+, Rf5 discovered check winning the Ra5.
   Oct-11-17 Giri vs Lupulescu, 2017
MarkBuckley: The cheeky 26...h5 appears to drop the h-pawn. But 27. Rg5 Be7 28. Rxh5 Kg7 endangers the Rook.
   Oct-04-17 A Andreev (replies)
MarkBuckley: Too bad he couldn't have a match with Colonel Moreau.
