Member since Aug-19-21 · Last seen Oct-04-23
21-years old who studies mathematics (2nd year) and enjoys playing chess. I wrote about fifty mathematical articles on the Croatian Wikipedia and I edited a dozen of other articles, also wrote some chess articles. I live in Rijeka, Croatia.

I’ve learned the rules of the game since I was 5, but I’ve only been playing more seriously since the end of 2018.

My favourite players are Lasker and Capablanca. In fact, Agadmator’s “Capablanca Saga” gave me a fundamental understanding of the game of chess and it was only then that I began to understand the games of the great players.

Sergeju Jesenjinu

Naš je planet radostima ubog nešto.
Treba otimati radost danima što bježe.
Na svijetu umirati nije teško,
Stvarati život daleko je teže.

~ Vladimir Majakovski ~

   Oct-02-23 Ivkov vs A Dueckstein, 1967

Mathematicar: Rc4 followed by Rd4 is maybe obvious, but still it is valuable idea to remember.

   Sep-30-23 Estrin vs Smyslov, 1946

Mathematicar: Brutal attack by Smyslov. 19...Qd2 is a move of the game.

   Sep-30-23 S Slonim vs N Riumin, 1931

Mathematicar: Bishop windmill and Re2 sacrifice. One cannot ask for more in a single puzzle.

   Sep-29-23 G Marco vs Pillsbury, 1896

Mathematicar: 44.f5 is the obvious mistake. White allows a waterfall of black pawns to fall on him.

Sep-29-23 Carlsen vs Gelfand, 2014 (replies)

Mathematicar: In this kind of positions Capablanca and Karpov would shine!

   Sep-28-23 Schlechter vs Lasker, 1910

Mathematicar: What a shame that Schlechter played 5... Nb3. I would love to see Lasker's play in the normal Sveshnikov!

Sep-27-23 Sultan Khan vs Rubinstein, 1931 (replies)

Mathematicar: Majestic play from the greatest Asian player at that time.

   Sep-27-23 Carlsen vs Ivanchuk, 2007

Mathematicar: This is how chess should always be played.

   Sep-24-23 O H von Haken vs A Gize, 1913

Mathematicar: Very instructive analysis by Nimzowitsch at the end. It appears in Lisitsin's book on chess strategy & tactics.

   Sep-22-23 H Enevoldsen vs R Beyen, 1958

Mathematicar: Wonderful game. Benoni punished with a style and smothered mate at the end.
