Mathematicar
Member since Aug-19-21 · Last seen Jun-14-25
Being a student of mathematics, I wrote about fifty mathematical articles (2019–2021) on the Croatian Wikipedia and I edited a dozen of other articles, mainly about chess and medicine. I live in Rijeka, Croatia. I'm 22.

I’ve learned the rules of the game since I was 5, but I’ve only been playing more seriously since the end of 2018.

My favourite players are Lasker and Capablanca. In fact, Agadmator’s “Capablanca Saga” gave me a fundamental understanding of the game of chess and it was only then that I began to understand the games of the great players.

Naš je planet radostima ubog nešto.
Treba otimati radost danima što bježe.
Na svijetu umirati nije teško,
Stvarati život daleko je teže.

   May-26-25 M Filipcic vs Lasker, 1924 (replies)

Mathematicar: <stone free or die>, thank you for reply. Sad to hear <TheFocus> is not with us anymore. How old was he? I am asking because I need the source for Croatian Wikipedia. I am proud to say Lasker's article on Croatian Wiki is one of the most thorough ones.

   May-26-25 Marshall vs Lasker, 1900

Mathematicar: Marshall would wait for 40 more years (!) to get a second and the last win from the great old Lasker.

   Apr-18-25 Euwe vs Alekhine, 1935

Mathematicar: Capablanca said in his "Last lectures" (given in 1941 over radio for listeners in South America): <The present World Champion has not the strength of the other three [Morphy, Steinitz, Lasker] as an endgame player, and is therefore inferior to them.>

   Apr-12-25 Lombardy vs Fischer, 1967

Mathematicar: There is something Capablanca-like in this game. A beautiful squeeze dance by Bobby.

   Apr-05-25 Petrosian vs Unzicker, 1960

Mathematicar: One of my all-time favourites games by Tigran, altough I am pretty sure I have seen these King marches in Lasker's and Capablanca's games before.

   Apr-05-25 Alekhine vs Lasker, 1914

Mathematicar: 34...Nxb2 gives Black only a draw: 37.Kxb2 Ra2+ 38.Kc3 b2 39.Nd2 Ra3+ 40.Kc4 Ra4+ 41.Kc5 Ra5+ 42.Kc4 Ra4+ 43.Kc3 etc.
