   Aug-15-10 P Cramling vs Giri, 2010 (replies)

Max Lange: According to Giri, 26. h3? was one of two moves that lost the game for Cramling--to anybody except a grandmaster this move looks harmless (and even Chessbase does not rate it as a blunder). A more real blunder was 32.Nb6?? which Chessbase agrees is a bad move.

Nov-28-09 Spielmann vs Tarrasch, 1923 (replies)

Max Lange: Wow, that move 30. Bxf7 was slick boy! The Last Knight of the King's Gambit scores one against Dr. Tarrasch.

Oct-22-09 Marshall vs Tarrasch, 1910 (replies)

Max Lange: I like this game since usually Tarrasch is shown beating poor Marshall. Payback!

Sep-14-09 Ponomariov vs Kramnik, 2003 (replies)

Max Lange: Good example of how the weaker player can do all the right things, the stronger player can do all the 'wrong' things (castling late), and the stronger player will still find a way to win.

Aug-22-09 Chigorin vs Steinitz, 1892 (replies)

Max Lange: 22...c5 1.0 is stronger says Fritz ( 1.0), and 26...Qd7 is better resistance says Fritz

Aug-16-09 Anderssen vs Dufresne, 1852 (replies)

Max Lange: After 19...Bd4 Black is even says Fritz. Still, a pretty cool game.

   Jan-11-08 Kibitzer's Café (replies)

Max Lange: Off-topic kids...Hey, Jim Bartle--got some dirt on Sir Ed, go here: http://www.stuff.co.nz/4352024a11.h... As for climbing, seems that it's a game of death... I'll stick to chess.

Jan-27-07 Kasparov vs Karpov, 1990 (replies)

Max Lange: 26.e6! is critical and missed by Kasparov. This game is fun to analyse and complete misanalysed by Seirawan in his otherwise interesting 1991 book "Five Crowns" (pre computer!). Other moves criticized by Seirawan turn out to be optimal (according to Fritz). Worth playing on your ...

   Jul-28-06 M Ritter vs B Marinello, 1999

Max Lange: White played lazy--in move 29. Nxd7 wins a pawn says Fritz. All in all, the two players are mismatched but white hung in there for close to 40 moves against an opponent 200 points higher, so give white credit. Marinello was also president of the USCF for a term.

   Jul-28-06 T Lopang vs J Gilbert, 2006 (replies)

Max Lange: After 20...Bxh3+ White is lost, even if it does not take the bishop, as the K-side is destroyed. Even Fritz at 5 seconds a move says black is down at least a pawn. If you can't see that you are still a class C player! LOL. An amazing example of an "optically well defended" K-side ...
