What a nice surprise you are reading this. Welcome! I’m Sicco Reeskamp and member since 2005 (although the system thinks otherwise). Although my chess rating has not been above the 1600 yet, I really can appreciate a good game. Many chess icons inspire me, e.g Capablanca, Lasker, Alekhine, Euwe, Fischer, Spassky, Karpov, Korchnoi and Kasparov. And this site has brought many other great players under my intention, e.g. Zuckertort, Gulko, Larsen or Short. My favourite chess teacher is by far Simon Williams, I love his dvds. But Akobian and Seirawan are great internet teachers as well. By the way, I’m Dutch. And live nearby Amsterdam. And as the biggest chance is that you are American, we have a connection, did you know? Being the founders of New York, words as dollar ( daalder), boss (baas), yankee (Jan Kees), the capitalistic financial system and the tolerance of religion stems from Amsterdam (please read Shorto’s highly recommended book 'Amsterdam'). So you might have guessed it already, history is a passion of mine. And now back to the chess games, cheers!

   Apr-20-24 J Esser vs Marshall, 1911 (replies)

OrangeTulip: Marshall must have been taken an oceanliner to Amsterdam. Did he had more tournaments in Europe during that trip?

   Dec-06-23 Reti vs Yates, 1924

OrangeTulip: Kasparov writes (OMGP IV, 344) about the compressed spring strategy used by Fisher against Tukmakov: this has been known since the times of hypermodernisme and is typical of the Rti Opening. And he refers to this game as an striking example.

Nov-04-23 Niemann vs Giri, 2023 (replies)

OrangeTulip: Great game by both players!

   Feb-27-23 Lasker vs H R Bigelow, 1926 (replies)

OrangeTulip: In those days super grand masters did give away some games in order to be invited again, or am I to suspicious? Second remark: Kasparov did negotiate to play only against members lower than 2200 Elo. Not for nothing

Feb-04-23 Bronstein vs Botvinnik, 1951 (replies)

OrangeTulip: Bronstein has played in the seventies a tournament in of our chessclub BSG, Netherlands, and he has indicated -standing at the bar -that the authorities have forced him to lose the battle for the championship. Perfidious Russian leadership

Jan-29-23 Giri vs Rapport, 2023 (replies)

OrangeTulip: Wow, that's how you put pressure on black! mistakes in the enemies camp are likely to happen

Jan-29-23 Tata Steel Masters (2023) (replies)

Jan-19-23 Giri vs Carlsen, 2023 (replies)

OrangeTulip: Strange pun, not respectful, in my eyes

OrangeTulip: Great endgame technique by Praggnanandhaa!
