I am a semi-retired school teacher from Tasmania Australia, I was living and working in Beijing, China in 2012, but now I am back in the cleanest air in the world and am returning to my painting, which is a passion of mine like chess. I have joined the Burnie Chess Club, and tonight is the start of the club championships, i had some success over some of the top players in recent weeks, plus some average performances too. I have been playing chess for about 16 years. But my father showed me how to play when I was young. It was part of his Army training for the communist army of Jugoslavia in the late 50s, he is quite good at it. I did not really understand or enjoy the game until I was in my late twenties and living alone, working in a very isolated fishing village in Tasmania, where I was teaching the children from the town. Soon I started to play chess, mostly online, and with a few locals from the town. Reading about chess history and the great players was a real joy... then Kasparov played Kramnick for the WCC and i followed that daily on "Braingames.com" via the net. I love the net, and now, "All I want to do, ever, is play chess"!!!!
