   Jan-07-07 Fedorov vs Adianto, 2000

Petrocephalon: Too clever by half? If White had played 31.Qxe6 instead, wouldn't he still have had a winning endgame based on the a-pawn? Regardless, an interesting fight from both players.

   Nov-23-06 F J Perez Perez vs Spassky, 1964 (replies)

Petrocephalon: Perhaps when white played 18.Nxd5 he was intending 20.Rd1 Bxf6 21.Nxf6+, missing that the discovered attack fails b/c of his back rank weakness.

   Nov-18-06 Tal vs J Miller, 1988 (replies)

Petrocephalon: I'd like to think Tal bought Miller a beer after this game.

Nov-16-06 Tal vs Ftacnik, 1985 (replies)

Petrocephalon: 17..Bg3 was an interesting move.

Nov-16-06 Aronian vs Morozevich, 2006 (replies)

Petrocephalon: <I like your nickname, btw. If I am ever elected Pope or Holy Roman Emperor, I may take it as my own.> Thanks! You're welcome to it. Best of luck in your ecclesiastical ambitions. I don't think they let Canadians vote for pope, but you have my support. <- it was ...

   Nov-13-06 N A Legky vs D Fingerov, 2005 (replies)

Petrocephalon: Why not 15..e4?

Nov-07-06 Tal vs Vasiukov, 1964 (replies)

Petrocephalon: think: perhaps 19..Bxc4 20.Qd2, threatening either Qh6 (or Rc1 or Nxe6).

   Nov-05-06 R Nezhmetdinov vs Aronin, 1950 (replies)

Petrocephalon: Thank you sitzkrieg. 21.e5 wasn't one of the replies I'd considered.

   Nov-05-06 Suttles vs W Pietzsch, 1968

Petrocephalon: I never fully understood the concept of overprotection. A bit too suttle for me.

   Nov-03-06 Topalov vs A Sorin, 1992

Petrocephalon: Perhaps b/c 26.R(5)xg4 Nxg4 27.Be4 Qh6 28.Bxa8 Qxe3+ 29.Kb1 Qd3+ 30.Ka1 Ne3?
