I suggest games for Game of the Day sometimes. Some puns are definitely better than others.

May-26-21 Kramnik vs Anand, 2003 (replies)
RickAlexander: <cdcook2> when you eventually play f4 (as Kramnik did two moves later), black no longer can simply play b4 and take the pawn on e4. this line is a little sketchy, but looks like a good way to face the h5 English Attack lines without playing Nd5.
   May-25-21 J M Hodgson vs S Haslinger, 1999
RickAlexander: 20 moves of prep just to blunder into a lost rook endgame. Chess can be cruel sometimes.
   May-20-21 Topalov vs Movsesian, 1999
RickAlexander: 10. Bg5! and 11. Bd2!! is an extremely strong prophylactic idea to prevent the typical f5 by way of weakening g6 with the h6 push. Wonder if Topalov had prepared it, and if Cheparinov was involved in the development of this tremendously strong idea.
   May-06-21 B Rytov vs Tal, 1979 (replies)
RickAlexander: I can imagine Rytov's distress with taking the pawn on c4 on move 11. When Tal offers you a pawn, the last thing you want to do is take it...
   May-06-21 D Pruess vs Shulman, 2004
RickAlexander: Very well played by Preuss.
   Feb-24-21 Rubinstein vs Duras, 1912
RickAlexander: the master of the endgame getting soundly grinded and defeated by the guy whose namesake in chess is 1. e4 f5?. I love it.
   Feb-22-21 Grischuk vs Aronian, 2010
RickAlexander: <goldenbear> yeah, some of it looks suspicious, but turns out 2800s play a rock-solid brand of chess. i don't think anyone could really force this position toward a win at that point in time except maybe Carlsen.
   Feb-20-21 Maxime Lagarde
RickAlexander: Maxime Didier Lagarde and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. Both very strong French GMs, although only the latter rose to the top 10 and became a Candidate.
Jan-05-21 Rohde vs Dlugy, 1990 (replies)
RickAlexander: <TheBish> I agree that the correct pronunciation is probably "Road", but I remember being in a lecture where the lecturer referred to him as "Grandmaster Roadie". After listening to the song "Welcome to the Rodeo", I put two and two together and promptly found this nice ...
