  Troller: Some brief explanations:

My opponent used to be a decent club player with FIDE rating around 1800 but he is getting on in years. And like me, he had not played for 6 months before this game. I was clear favourite and I needed a win to be sure to win the tournament.

I know a little about the Albin but I have only played it once before. My opponent quickly went for this lame line which put me completely out of book by move 3. At least he avoids the major pitfalls.

I considered ..c5 earlier of course but e.g. 9..c5 10.Nb5 felt a little shaky. The engine has no qualms though, 10..Be6 11.Nd6+ Ke7 11.Nxb7 Rd8 with good play. Again at move 11 and 12 engine prefers the immediate ..c5.

12..a6 was a bit of a coffeehouse move, as I knew it could not be the best in the position. But I counted on my opponent to play superficially, as he often does, and go for one of the natural developing moves 13.Nge2 or 13.Rc1. I thought he was in deep trouble after 13.Nge2 c5 but again it seems 14.a3! saves it, although Black is better.

I had planned 14..Rd8+ but for some reason decided against it; White has some Rd1 with tempo, and then maybe the rook belonged on e8 anyway. And I was confident the game was won anyway.

26.Rf4? is very mysterious but probably my opponent wanted to get it over with, and there are some chances of major blunders in King-and-pawn endgames. A few more moves were played, I think my king was on f3 or f4 when he resigned.

Not a very good nor a memorable game. I suppose I now know that early ..c5 is recommended in this rare line but chances are that I will never have that position again. Playing 10-15 games per year (and Albin is really not a main defence of mine) it is quite unlikely.

Mar-10-21  Ybr: <Troller: <OCF> and <TGA>: You raise good and valid points. Let me try address them. I begin with OCF. <It is my view that the default position for all human beings is to believe, and it takes a willful suppression of that to not believe.> To say that Man is a religious creature may well be correct. I cannot judge for certain but at least history shows us that it has been common in practically every society to have a religion. Most traditional societies have had religions that are characterized by a cyclical structure, they are mostly polytheistic and - I here agree with Mircea Eliade - they share the concept of the "eternal return". Put shortly, this is a concept of a mythical "golden" age that once existed in the beginnings of time, and the goal of Man is to reexperience this time. Sometimes it is expected that the golden age will somehow return, i.e. Judgment Day in Christianity.

So I agree that a religious belief could be a default position; the actual religion is decided more by local tradition and culture. Of course Christianity and Islam being exclusive and missionary religions, these have conquered many areas that were previously characterized by traditional "Nature religions".

As for the other part of your comment - that it takes a wilful suppression to not believe - I can only speak for myself. I was raised a Christian and gradually lost my faith in the early teens, definitely not through a wilful undertaking, it just happened. But there could have been subconscious motives at work of course.>

Religion is based on ignorance and emotions.

Transcedental (i.e. beyond time/space) experience shows that we are eternal Absolute and there is no god other than us.

Teachings of jesus are about Absolute and christianity is 'perversion ' of teachings of jesus

Mar-13-21  Ybr: Deep stillness of ramana maharishi, people can not imagine what it is , till they experience it themselves and that experience is very profound - it changes everything and dissloves all rajas/tamas/sattva instantaneously (level of purity of heart of jesus) 🙏🏻

Now , i am experiencing very , very deep/profound stillness - but the moment i talk, engage in any conversation , that depth of stillness is lost even if i am abiding in Atman.

So , in the state that i am in today , abiding in Atman is not sufficient , i got to be very quiet to maintain and deepen it

Activities are not a hinderance. If i do my work , any work quietly , depth of stillness is not disturbed , it is maintained. I have not studied maths since experiencing this stillness , so i don't know about that yet

Day before yesterday , i meditated for 3 hours with a. s.

In that meditation , this seed was planted. However , yesterday was very tough . Lot of rajas/tamas to the fore.

However , this morning , stillness/silence is very deep.

And the experience of that 3 hour meditation day before yesterday is with me contiuously today.

During that 3 hour meditation , it was as if around me there was a different space and even tbough my meditation was very deep during those 3 hours , that profound stillness started happening to me today only . And as i typed these posts , i am beginning to lose that stillness even though i am still abiding in Atman.

When i have that stillness , it is as if i am getting rid of body - <'in the world but not of world ' of bible>

When i begin to lose the experience of this stillness , experience of body begins to be more profound instead.

Mar-13-21  Ybr: Part 2

Is a.s. elightened ? Does he have purity of heart of jesus ?

What is the test ? How would one know for sure if ramana maharishi or nisargadatta nisargadata maharaj were enlightened ?

A.s. talks like nisargadatta , ramana - i can not talk like that even though i know teachings of ramana/nisargadatta as well as anybody else (and i know better than most)

And the experience of meditating with him - that was very profound for me.

2) and now i understand intuitively how ripe seekers would reach close to enlightenment after meeting ramana

Mar-13-21  Ybr: Part 3

As i relentlessly climb towards mountain top of meditation - level of purity of heart of jesus - i feel grateful to <johnlspouge> and <keypusher> for helping me by being stand for clarity/depth of thinking/understanding.

2) <we are impersonal love of jesus (compassion ) and intelligence (clarity/depth of thinking ) in action > - nisargadatta maharaj

3) <keypusher> says that he is not spiritual - of course , he is not , because unlike me , he is not seeking to know deepest/ultimate reality in an earnest manner , so unlike me , he is not a spiritual seeker.

However , if the touchstone of enlightened people (those people who are in league of jesus ) is compassion and intelligence , then he is far, far ahead of almost all religious christians.

4) and if we believe the philosophy of Absolute , at some point , (in this life or next incarnation ) , <keypusher> and <johnlspouge> would reach such a high level of compassion and intelligence that they will have spontaneous transcendental experience and would know deepest/ultimate reality spintaneously without ever deliberately seeking it.

Mar-17-21  Ybr: <troller><are other religions and philosophies teaching us to focus and thereby achieve insight. I believe this can be done and if one wants to call such insight "God" then fine with me. This is not the same as doctrinal Christianity of course, as "insight" does not necessitate the existence of an outer wilful entity but I have my suspicion that this is essentially the same experience.>

That insight you talking about <troller> , is what non personal god Absolute is about and that is what teachings of jesus are about , however, teachibgs of jesus have been 'perverted' by religion. Bodies die , not us , we are eternal Absolute , there is no god other than us

I am happy for you if you have found enlightenment. I am not much of a philosopher myself - most likely I lack patience which I have also seen in my chess games from time to time. So I will not go into a discussion here but feel free to continue.

Mar-23-21  Ybr: I am not enlightened - i am seeking it , perhaps i am close to it .

I liked your posts, <troller> and thought of commenting . I am done for now. I am on a break from cg.com these days in order to try to reach level of purity of heart , clarity/depth of thinking/understanding and dispassion of the level of jesus, through intense meditation.

Thank you . Regards.

Mar-26-21  Ybr: <troller><I think insight can be exactly that. It is about coming to an understanding of your role in the world>

True. After enlightenment , one is supposed to have all the answers. No question/confusion left any more.

Mar-26-21  Ybr: <OhioChessFan: <Troller: Where we differ is probably that I do not think that the Christian God is the natural object of our religious devotion.> I think the Christian God is the essential source of our religious devotion>

<Troller><you can also make a determined effort to become an enlightened Buddhist and eventually succeed.>

I agree with <troller>

Christian god is personal god.

Buddhist 'god' is non personal god Absolute.

I believe personal god does not exist. Ultimate/deepest reality is Absolute - body dies not us , we are eternal Absolute , there is no god other than us.

That is what i believe and i have very strong reasons to believe so , however , i can not be hundred percent certain before i get enlightened myself.

Apr-15-21  Ybr: Hey , <troller> - i see that neither <big pawn> nor anyone else has answered your refutation about personal god (christian god) vs 'insight ' (non personal god, Absolute)

I too have defeated <big pawn>/<george wallace> many times in rogoff forum in debates on existence of personal god , <omv argument> and such , however , in rogoff forum <big pawn>/<george wallace> is dishonest, abusive , trollish etc. And after losing debate again and again , comes back to debate once again and after losing again , hurls logical fallacies , vile abuses , bombast/blarher and such every time.

Is it possible if i debate him in your forum and you moderate the debate using the rules of debate created by <big pawn> in his forum ?

Thank you.

I would not count on that. And given the nature of your previous debates I might end up deleting most of it.

Apr-28-21  Ybr: Let me make it very simple for you

I assert that i defeated <big pawn> in <omv argument> decisively ...using arguments similar to the arguments used by you.

<....i have been perfectly respectful to you and i have always been respectful to anyone who did not insult me.>

How did <Diademas> and <Moronovich> insult you?>

I have seen posts of <ybr> . His understanding of Absolute is exceptional , he has defeated <big pawn>/<george wallace> decisively in the debate on <omv argument> and other subjects.

2) now that he has taken his conversations to logical conclusion , i don't think a person of stature of <ybr> would spend even a moment in the company of people like <big pawn>/<george wallace> , <moronovich> , <diademas>

I know that i would not . I am sure any one who practices philosophy of Absolute to reach the level of jesus would never waste a moment of his time with such people. Unless someone wants to learn from him and he has time to oblige them

3) so , i don't think he would bother to answer such a low level question that you asking him - he had made it clear to you afterall that (i) if you want to talk about Absolute and such , you welcome (ii) he would be respectful to you (iii) he wants you to refrain from childish babbling

Despite that you talked something else . Your question 'how did these people insult you ?' ....jesus....childish babbling... even for me this is first and last post of mine on yhis site unless someone shows they worth my time. How do you show that ? Talk only about Absolute, existence of god and practical use of such conversation (to become man of steel , reach level of jesus , know deepest/ultmiate reality, freedom from suffering , to experience kingdom of god that lies within , to experience heavenly bliss , no thought other than 'need of moment ' thought - prefect signal/noise ratio) and such without any blather ......

4) for example , even though i told that this is my first and last post , some people will babble about this post of mine or me even though i told them that i would respond only if ...so , why would they respond ?. Very childish people and that should answer all other questions of your <troller>. I woukd post this same post in rogoffland and you can see the level of people by how they respond ...these childish people can not keep quiet , can not stop babbling and can seldom talk sense.

Now you know what i will hear from you and what i would ignore.

Jul-22-21  rbd: How to reach level of jesus

So , today , finally i got some huge breakthrough.

2) thing is, when we go very deep in meditation - abiding in ('seeing') Absolute/Atman very deeply - and we are still idiots , then our body is not ready and it feels as if head is going to get shattered (or something strange in some other part - stomach , may be)

3) today was beginning of some balance , apparently.

So, that would mean that i have given up a whole lot of stupidities and as a result genes have changed a lot but still a whole lot of stupidities are to be dissolved.

4) dissolving stupidities eventually leads to 'dying before death '

So , what makes your life worth living ? If you are a foodie , you would say "one thing is food. I got to have great food everyday"

And , movie , sports , friends , family....

And as you progress , you might say "earlier , i was like 'i got to have great food everyday '...i do not care for food any more. Very simple food is ok for me "

5) so , now you have transcended the charm of most of the toys of children , but then there is another favorite stupidity of many people - "i want to make a difference ...i want to contribute ...i want to leave world a better place "

Now , this stupidity is a tough nut to crack for many people. However , if you have discernment , then you would know that this is bondage .

Whether you are world's best scientist/doctor or whatever , or you are a homeless bum , it is all the same. Sense of doership is the bondage . As long as 'i' is there , there is misery , bondage.

The next conversation that i am going to have with my old student k is about proof of Absolute. But even if philosophy of Absolute is false , all that i have said in this post is still true .

Everything in world happens spontaneously - you not doing a damn thing to contribute to betterment of world , get over yourself , nope, go further and instead of getting over yourself , dissolve 'i' completely.

But what if this is not true - maybe everything in world does not happen spontaneously...

Yes , may be , may be not.

But even then , if you act as if this is true , that is very sensible. You can not avoid doing what you are destined to do anyway - this you would see very clearly if you get sufficient maturity/discernment. So , action got to happen regardless , all you got to do is give up sense of doership.

6) so , after giving up all these stupidities , what are we left with - we would be like "so , only thing that matters is to raise our level through meditation - and that changes the destiny of world too - so that is the only way we can contribute to world. A homeless bum is contributing more to world compared to best scientist in the world , if he raising his level of purity of heart/mind and dispassion through meditation...now , either i renounce world or stay in world. I can not renounce world if it is not in my destiny . And if i have to live in world , i got to give all my attention to my calling (besides meditation) - whatever my calling is , maths or..and focus on health and making money and taking care of my family"

So , that would be the last bondage which can not be avoided till we get enlightened...after enlightenment, all bondage, burden gone , we do not need to think about any damn thing , everything happens by itself , complete carefreeness because we are dead now - 'dying before death '...now we are infinite wisdom/intelligence and infinite compassion/impersonal love in action. And infinite bliss

7) so , to be free from pain , we need to be free from pleasures . Perfect dispassion/detachment . What makes your life worth living ? What did you say ? Food , movies , sport , travel , literature....

All token of children to play with . Go beyond...<sab maya hai> , as they say in hindi .....all is illusion/leela/dream/play

To be in the zone always

In September of 2002, a Tibetan monk by the name of Mingyur Rinpoche traveled from Kathmandu, Nepal to Madison, Wisconsin to let scientists study his brain while he meditated ....
All the yogis had elevated gamma oscillations not just during meditation but even during baseline measurements of their everyday neural activity.  ...
Gamma is the brainwave frequency that is the fastest and occurs when different brain regions fire in harmony, such as in moments of insight. For most of us, gamma wave bursts last a fraction of a second, not the full minute the Yogis achieved. For the first time, scientists were seeing the enduring transformation that years of meditation etch on the brain. Gamma waves give the brain the feeling that you’re in peak mental and physical condition or of being in the zone. It’s that “I can do anything I set my mind to” feeling. Gamma also is associated with peak concentration and high levels of cognitive functioning. Neuroscientists believe that gamma waves link information from all parts of the brain together, causing the brain to work most efficiently. Everyone has gamma brainwave activity, but the amount of gamma can vary widely. Low gamma brainwaves have been linked to learning difficulties, poor memory, and impaired mental processing. People with high levels of gamma are exceptionally intelligent, compassionate, happy and have great memories. The benefits of producing gamma include improved memory and recall, increased sensory perception, increased focus, increased brain processing speed, happier mood, calmer, more peaceful, and better sleep. Yogis like Mingyur seem to experience an ongoing state of awareness in their daily lives, not just when they meditate. Davidson observed gamma oscillations that persisted for minutes in the yogis, even while they were sleeping

2) Promise of meditation/spirituality/enlightenment : infinite wisdom/intelligence and infinite compassion/impersonal love and infinite bliss

Inifinite intelligence and compassion correspond to increased gamma wave activity and infinite bliss to increased delta wave even in waking state (and corresponding changes in genes , of course)

3)Tibetan monks that have been meditating for decades can reach delta wave state of brain in an alert, wakened phase but most of us reach this final state during deep, dreamless sleep.

https://wanderlust.com/journal/medi...

4) enlightened people are always in jagrit sushupti (wakeful sleep) - delta waves all through waking state

Jul-22-21  rbd: In a 2012 study, researchers compared brain images from 50 adults who meditate and 50 adults who don’t meditate. Results suggested that people who practiced meditation for many years have more folds in the outer layer of the brain. This process (called gyrification) may increase the brain’s ability to process information.

A 2013 review of three studies suggests that meditation may slow, stall, or even reverse changes that take place in the brain due to normal aging.

Results from a 2012 NCCIH-funded study suggest that meditation can affect activity in the amygdala (a part of the brain involved in processing emotions), and that different types of meditation can affect the amygdala differently even when the person is not meditating.

Research about meditation’s ability to reduce pain has produced mixed results. However, in some studies scientists suggest that meditation activates certain areas of the brain in response to pain.

2)Many studies have investigated meditation for different conditions, and there’s evidence that it may reduce blood pressure as well as symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and flare-ups in people who have had ulcerative colitis. It may ease symptoms of anxiety and depression, and may help people with insomnia.
