   Mar-28-20 Bacrot vs B Al Qudaimi, 2018

W Westerlund: Bacrot was world champion material.

Mar-23-20 I Nepomniachtchi vs Ding Liren, 2020 (replies)

W Westerlund: Frankly, this is unbelievable. To me, Ding was one of the favourites. As many said: 33. ... Rxb6 and Black holds. What is wrong with Ding? Nepo is now the big favourite, very deservedly so. I think that Carlsen is very happy that Ding is not winning the candidates.

   Mar-21-20 Caruana vs I Nepomniachtchi, 2020 (replies)

W Westerlund: Pedro, it is most likely a draw now. Still complicated. Black could even sac the b-pawn to get his king to the Queen side. But this can't happen with the Bishops on the board. So, keep the Bishop and it a draw - I think.

   Mar-20-20 Shirov vs Z Almasi, 1997

W Westerlund: vonKrolock: Thank you.

   Mar-10-20 M Muzychuk vs P Cramling, 2020 (replies)

W Westerlund: I don't understand why White did not play 41.g5!

   Jan-08-20 Karpov vs Huebner, 1979

W Westerlund: The article in The Guardian, link given above, incorrectly names Short as Dr Short.

Jan-08-20 Portisch vs Huebner, 1978 (replies)

W Westerlund: Gars: I disagree. Huebner was pure world champion material. It's his perfectionism and his 'pessimism' - biting self-sarcasm that stood in the way. If you write 46 pages of analysis on one position in one game, my god! (how can you *play*?).

   Dec-30-19 N Littlewood vs B Brinck-Claussen, 1963 (replies)

W Westerlund: I think that not 12. ... f6 was the main problem here, but 17. ... gxf5, which is so horrendous that the Black game is as good as lost. Although after 17. ... g5 Black is also in problems. Simple Nxg5 and White has a big attack.

   Nov-24-19 Fischer vs Myagmarsuren, 1967

W Westerlund: Howard - Petrosianic: Kasparov makes the same argument in MGP 4. The book contains several Spassky - Karpov games. Spassky's time at the top was over. However, Spassky's results were already deteriorating in 1971. As for the WC, as Geller said, Spassky read too many novels, ...

Nov-09-19 Karpov vs Korchnoi, 1994 (replies)

W Westerlund: The talk about the Karpov mafia is sheer nonsense. Read Winter's review of Kasparov's Child of Change. Kasparov never took anything tack, although the lies are blatant. I am happy that the likes of Fischer and Kasparov are gone. Great chess players absolutely, but chess became
