   Nov-13-13 M Stean vs E Ungureanu, 1976 (replies)

aidanpickering: I played Michael Stean in a simul as a kid. He was a gracious and gifted player, I heard he left chess to pursue a more lucrative career. I don't blame him at all. This game is a masterpiece.

Sep-05-10 Timman vs Razuvaev, 1975 (replies)

aidanpickering: Rb2 is the move as wintep correctly points out. Black can't avoid either mate or losing the bishop because of the pin. However this was a very flashy tactic by Timman. 51. g5+! was a much simpler win taking advantage of the pinned pawn.

aidanpickering: 54...Qb8+ would have been a quicker win: white can't push the c-pawn because of Qc6 mate! so black picks up the bishop and wins with ease.

Jul-16-10 Kasparov vs Karpov, 2002 (replies)

aidanpickering: this was not a great game - it was just a blunder by kasparov in a won position

   May-28-10 W Hook vs J C Meyer, 1979 (replies)

aidanpickering: When I first played through this game I figured it could be from the 19th century but no it is 1979, not 1879! Great swash buckling stuff with a couple of really nonchalant moves thrown in by white to cap off a real gem. What's unusual is that white makes 7 moves after black ...

aidanpickering: i told you it would be a draw!!

May-04-10 Topalov vs Anand, 2010 (replies)

aidanpickering: this looks terrible for black, regardless of the bishops of color
