apple scruffs: Nice pun, but the Shakespearean phrase is "hoist with his own petard" and I'd have preferred that. For one of the games in his <My 60 Memorable Games>, Fischer uses exactly that phrase.

apple scruffs: He's still in Moscow: For a while he was conjectured to be in or going to Norway, Iceland, Cuba, Venezuela, Ecuador. Is it just me, or does anyone else see a superficial resemblance to Levon Aronian? So maybe it's worth a try to go to ...
Dec-10-12 Carlsen vs Anand, 2012 (replies)
apple scruffs: Q ex or no Q ex? Houdini gives the Queen exchange as its top line but personally I'd rather see a middlegame with Queens on.
   Dec-08-12 Magnus Carlsen (replies)
apple scruffs: Nice interview. Thanks for the link, <viktor2>. In the interview, Carlsen mentions a game with Anand. I think this is the game alluded to: Carlsen vs Anand, 2012 . Carlsen also mentions a Knight retreat in that game, a move that wasn't very easy to find. Here's the ...

apple scruffs: Got reminded of Karpov vs Hug, 1969 except that there Hug didn't find the killer move 29...Qf3. Adams took so long to play 41...Qd1 I began to suspect he hadn't seen it. He had, of course. He was just checking the variations.

apple scruffs: Damn it, Jim Bartle, did you really have to brag? You made me eat my heart out! Did you dig it when they played "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed"?
Nov-29-12 FIDE Grand Prix Tashkent (2012) (replies)
apple scruffs: Karjakin-Morozevich, Rd 7, Tashkent Grand Prix after 52...Rc7+ [DIAGRAM]
   Nov-14-12 Vasyl Ivanchuk (replies)
apple scruffs: Planet Ivanchuk has been found. They're calling it CFBDSIR2149 at the moment but I'm hoping the IAU, the International Astronomical Union, will see the light and give this planet the name it really deserves.
Sep-19-12 FIDE Grand Prix London (2012) (replies)
apple scruffs: <achk>, thanks for reminding me. I'd almost forgotten Adams withdrew from the GP...couple years ago, wasn't it?
Aug-15-12 World Junior Championship (Girls) (2012) (replies)
