   Dec-14-20 Capablanca vs C Jaffe, 1910 (replies)

bamaexpert: I don't think this was Capa at his finest at all..more likely Jaffe at his worst. This game was like an eight year old (Jaffe) playing in a 20 game simul vs. an invincible older Capablanca. Geez, what a terrible game.

Jul-21-20 Fischer vs Spassky, 1966 (replies)

bamaexpert: The fact that Fischer played his pet KID in rds. 1 and 3 vs. Taimanov, and in the process took his opponent apart, always made me wonder why he played the Gruenfeld in rd 5. Taimonov played 10. Rc1 in game 1, then 10. Qb3 in game 3, so maybe Fischer thought the Gruenfeld in game ...

   Jul-15-20 P Hair vs S Yee, 2017 (replies)

bamaexpert: Pun is clever. The game sux. Another crap game for a good pun.

   Jul-06-20 Chessable Masters (2020) (replies)

bamaexpert: As far as Carlsen making a living by playing chess...the prize funds for tournaments, online or over the board, are probably 1/100th of his chess income. Has no one noticed all the sponsors he has? Water, Chess24, and three or four more that adorn his backdrop and clothing; ...

   Jun-05-20 Nunn vs H Ree, 1982 (replies)

bamaexpert: Simply one of the best puns I've seen here. :) "To Ree or not to Ree...that is the question. Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageously lost rook and pawn endgames..." you can go on forever.

   Jan-13-20 I Saric vs B Morchiashvili, 2010 (replies)

bamaexpert: Lessee, rf8+ Kh2 g6 mate. Or, if ...bxf8, Qxf8+ Kh2 g6 mate. I can't believe no one else in this thread saw this. TIME TO CHECK. (By the way, why don't posters say that anymore?)

   Oct-23-19 D Caruso vs E Paoli, 2001 (replies)

bamaexpert: If my math is correct, Enrico Paoli was 93 when he played this game. It would have been neat if he had won.

   Oct-08-19 World Cup (2019) (replies)

bamaexpert: Here's today's really stupid question, which has probably been answered within the 36 pages of posts. Does Radjabov play Carlsen next for the World Championship, or are there more tournaments to follow? (It would be simple if FIDE's rules and requirements weren't so f****d up).

   Aug-05-19 Rudolf Pitschak (replies)

bamaexpert: Oops, sorry...there it was all along. Nevermind!!

   Jul-07-19 Carlsen vs Vachier-Lagrave, 2019 (replies)

bamaexpert: This banter suggests looking at the stockfish analysis on chess24.com. Apparently Rad8 is best for black.
