dmillergp: Knight13, There is no evidence of that at all, it is just conjecture. Seems like Staunton did much more good for chess than bad, and apart from the Morphy match I dont really see any other case of him not being upfront about anything.

dmillergp: should be remembered that the 43 percent win percentage is of course no where near accurate, The vast majority of his games not against top 10 players have been lost

Sep-18-10 Fischer vs Spassky, 1972 (replies)

dmillergp: At the same time, Topalov didnt have the pressure of a superpower to win

Sep-05-10 Reshevsky vs Fischer, 1960 (replies)

dmillergp: Reshevsky was probably in time trouble and so agreed to the draw

Sep-02-10 Keres vs Najdorf, 1955 (replies)

dmillergp: the purpose of g5 is not to open up the file for the rook but to clear the square e5 for the knight

dmillergp: Bronstein did not lose the match to Botvinnik, it was a tie, and Bronstein may have been forced to lose game 23.

Sep-01-10 Fischer vs Petrosian, 1971 (replies)

dmillergp: the whole idea of the opening is to be behind a tempo, but rather than have to waste time with a bad knight on c3 put it on d2, or thats the modern interpretation of it

   Aug-31-10 Paul Keres (replies)

dmillergp: must be remembered that in wwii his country was taken over by stalin, hitler, then stalin again. find someone who plays there best chess concerned like that, while his main rival has state support

   Aug-23-10 David Bronstein (replies)

dmillergp: Smyslov was leading almost the entire tournament, don't think there is much sour grapes here. There was pressure for Smyslov to win, and of course for Reshevsky not to, but they didn't favor Bronstein or Keres, as Smyslov was leading almost the whole tournament and Reshevsky was ...

   Aug-22-10 Miguel Najdorf (replies)

dmillergp: Fischer actually became much more friendly towards Najdorf in the years before his world champ win
