e4 resigns
Member since Mar-09-12 · Last seen Feb-26-16
A chess fan, but not that good.

Right now I'm testing out 1. b4, and I'm finding that it's pretty good. Here are a few recent games I played with it-

1. b4 d5
2. Bb2 Nc6
3. b5 Nb4?
4. a3
(Black played on a bit, but he remained a piece down. I first saw this trap by Bill Wall. His game went

1. b4 Nc6
2. b5 Nb4?
3. e4! (and there's no way to save the knight)

Here's a game I played today.

1. b4 e5
2. Bb2 d6
3. c4 Bf5
4. Nc3 c6
5. e4 Be6
6. Nf3 Be7 (6... d5 would have been interesting) 7. d4 Bg4
8. dxe5 Bxf3
9. Qxf3 dxe5
10. a3 Nf6
11. Rd1 Qc7
12. c5 0-0
13. Bc4 Rd8
14. 0-0 b6
15. cxb6 axb6
16. Rxd8 Qxd8
17. Rd1 Qc7
18. g4 - I wasn't sure whether this was good or bad, but I was rather curious how he was going to defend. 18... b5
19. Bb3 h6
20. h4 Na6
21. g5 hxg5
22. hxg5 Nh7
23. Bxf7 (Black resigns)

Here's a personal favorite I played.
1. e4 e5
2. Bc4 Nf6
3. d3 Be7
4. f4 d6 (I'm not sure about the move order, but it got to this point. 5. Nf3 O-O
6. O-O Bg4
7. Nc3 exf4
8. Bxf4 Nc6
9. Qd2 Bxf3
10. Rxf3 Nd4
11. Rg3 Nh5
12. Rh3 Nxf4
13. Qxf4 Nxc2
14. Rf1 Qe8
15. Nd5 Nd4
16. Qg4 Rc8
17. Qh5 h6
18. Rf6 c6
19. Rxh6 (Black resigns)

e4 resigns: 4... Qh4+ 5. g3 Qxd4 instantly equalizes. I guess the game turned into something like a scandinavian for black with nice equality all around. Not what you would expect with a very sharp 3...e5!?

e4 resigns: I'm rather proud of myself for finding Bxc5. Now if I would only stop and think during my actually games.
   Sep-04-14 K H Woschkat vs B Plath, 1989
e4 resigns: 11. exf6 is a really pretty in-between move, but I don't see any knockout for black if 11... Bxf6 or 11... Nxf6. I wish they would have played on just a bit longer, even if white is arguably winning.
   Sep-03-14 I Golyak vs M Parry, 2004
e4 resigns: <ihatesicilian> In your line, 5... Bxc5 6. bxc5 Qxb2 7. Nc3 7... a4 looks playable. Now it looks very hard to trap the queen as Nf6/d5 is coming.

e4 resigns: I got it up to 28. Nf5.

e4 resigns: I scored 126. So close!
   Jul-19-14 L Benima vs B J Meijer, 1886
e4 resigns: Probably better was 5...Nc5. 5... Be7? is a blunder which loses a piece to 6. Qd5! After 10. Bd3! white has a forced win of more material since the e5 pawn is strong. So black could have resigned at any time.
Jul-17-14 Rybka vs Fruit, 2008 (replies)
e4 resigns: The endgame is rather interesting. When you plug in the position after move 70... (black to move) on the Nalimov endgame tablebase, it says that Black should play 70... g6 and loses in 23 moves as opposed to 21 with 70...Ba2. Every move the computers played after that followed ...

e4 resigns: BOSTER - It looks like a mate for white. 1. Qf1 Ke8 2. Qb5 Kf8 3. Qxc5 Ke8 4. Qe7. Also, good puzzle. I missed 29. Qh5! but 29. Rxf7 should win also.

e4 resigns: 20...Ke7 21. Rf7+ Kd6 22. Bf4+ Be5 23. Bxe5# All moves are forced. This is the shortest solution I found, and might not be the correct one. It does promise checkmate, though. 19...Nh5 20. Rf6+ Ke7 (Ke8 21. Re1+ Kd7 22. Rf7+ Kd6 23. Re6#) 21. Rf7+ Ke8 22. Re1+ It is fairly easy
