haydn20: < piltdown man: <TheFocus Proving once again that I'm not a physic.> What's a "physic?" Maybe you mean "psychic?"> The old word "physic" meant "enema" and a physician was then a man who bled people and gave them enemas. In any case--if the shoe fits...

   Oct-24-15 Vachier-Lagrave vs C Li, 2015 (replies)

haydn20: 7...b6 is somewhat rare. The game follows Carlsen-Mamedyarov 2015 thru 14 Rc1 when Mamed played ...Kh8 and got crushed. This is a passive line, and playing it against someone as powerful as MVL is not to be recommended.

Oct-21-15 European Club Cup (2015) (replies)

haydn20: <notyetagm> could you give a link for Gustaveson's video of the Naka game? Thanks in advance.

Oct-20-15 Ruy Lopez, Exchange (C68) (replies)

haydn20: I remember back in the Fischer fad days playing 4...dxc6 (of course) and if 5. 0-0 then ...Bd6. If I remember right, White pretty much had to play 6 d4 to get anything and Black had a nice, free game.

haydn20: < Jim Bartle: <I'm in the process of revolutionizing mathematics and physics and philosophy and even economics for the 21st and 22nd centuries.> Slacker!!> And just as I was congratulating myself for proving the Riemann hypothesis. Boy, do I feel silly in the face of ...

   Oct-10-15 Y Hou vs N Dzagnidze, 2015 (replies)

haydn20: You just can't beat them tripled pawns!

   Oct-08-15 Karpov Poikovsky (2015) (replies)

haydn20: Fairly hard fought, with 56% decisive.

Oct-08-15 Women's Grand Prix Monte Carlo (2015) (replies)

haydn20: Happy to see Pia Cramling still in there slugging it out--I've always liked her style.

Sep-01-15 Caruana vs So, 2015 (replies)

haydn20: After 16..b5, White has an initiative, but that's all. It'll be interesting to see how So got here--maybe another opening lacuna?

Sep-01-15 Topalov vs Aronian, 2015 (replies)

haydn20: Seems like the players are traversing a byway of the Ragozin, one which favors Black. I'd almost bet Aronian is in familiar territory while Topalov isn't.
