Mar-17-15 Reshevsky vs Yanofsky, 1964 (replies)

jpolchinski: I don't see how B makes progress in the end after 40 Nxb4 Qxb3+ 41 Ke2 Qxb4 42 Kf1

   Sep-25-14 R Figares vs K McDonald, 1996 (replies)

jpolchinski: I'm having trouble with 42.Kd2. For example, on <agb2002>'s B.1, Qxg2+ 43.Kc1 Qxf3 44.Qxf3 Nxf3 45.Nxc6 g2 46.Ne2 Nd4 47.Ncxd4 exd4, then 48 Ng1 seems to block the K-side pawns, while the c-pawn occupies the bishop.

Jan-22-13 Mackenzie vs Mohishunder, 1857 (replies)

jpolchinski: Mohishunder has 449 games in the database, and this is the only one not vs Cochrane.

   Nov-14-12 Velicka vs Jansa, 1997

jpolchinski: After <chrisowen>'s(!) +2.27 line I beat Crafty with 27 cxd5 bxa2 28 Nf4+ Kg7 29 g6 Nf6 30 Qg5 Rdc8 31 gxf7+ Qg6+ ke7 32 e5 Bxg7 and now several moves win - exf6+, Qxf6+, exd6+. Just keep pushing those pawns!

Oct-07-12 Mokry vs Gheorghiu, 1985 (replies)

jpolchinski: <LTJ> Your Qxh5! line line after 22... Kg8 is nice. 23 Qg5 Nxf6+ costs W a needed tempo, and 23 Bxd8 is not so immediately decisive.

   Sep-09-12 G Vescovi vs Leitao, 1998 (replies)

jpolchinski: If 34. Qxf3, R8e3 35. Qf1, Rxa2 leads to zugzwang, e.g. 36. Rg2, Rxh3+ 37 Kg1, Bb6+

Aug-01-12 de Firmian vs A Rustemov, 1999 (replies)

jpolchinski: <gofer> Thanks for the clue, a nice line!

Apr-06-11 M Bab vs Dus Chotimirsky, 1911 (replies)

jpolchinski: I thought 31 Rg1 gave W an escape square, 31 ... Rh3+ 32 Kxf2 Rh2+ 33 Kf1. But 31 ... Rh2 seals in the WK and it's mate next.

   May-03-10 O Sarapu vs Z Frankel, 1962 (replies)

jpolchinski: The desperate 29 ... Qh2+ 30 Kxh2 Bd3+ 31 g6 gxh5 stops the mate at the cost of a piece.

Apr-12-10 Polugaevsky vs Smyslov, 1960 (replies)

jpolchinski: <Jimfromprovidence><The physicist?> Yes, actually. But a knack for theoretical physics doesn't seem to carry over to chess.
