I'm interested in comparisons between human and artificial intelligence, in part because I read Hubert Dreyfus's What Computers Still Can't Do back in the mid-1990s. While Dreyfus was obviously wrong in setting limits on what computes would be able to accomplish in chess, I think he was still right that the way that programs "think" is fundamentally different from the ways humans think. This probably tells us a great deal about what the future will look like in domains outside of chess. But I remain too dim to discern what it is that we are being told. Perhaps our cyborg overlords will clear it all up one of these days.
