mstover: So, what move doesn't work in this position? That seems like a better puzzle for this game. I bet 15. Rxb5 wins too.

   Jan-22-07 E Sokolov vs Rushnikov, 1964 (replies)

mstover: Why not 14. Rxe7+ What would black do? 14 ... Nxe7 15. Qe4 followed by Qxe7+ if the king moves, well, white is ahead a ton of material.

Jan-21-07 Karjakin vs Navara, 2007 (replies)

mstover: But at c3 the knight covers d1

   Jan-12-07 D Ayza Leon vs R Felgaer, 2006

mstover: There's a saturday/sunday puzzle in here dying to get out.

Dec-05-06 Deep Fritz vs Kramnik, 2006 (replies)

mstover: or 24 Qh4 h6 25 Bxh6 Bxh6 26 Qg6# so 24 Qh4 h6 25 Bxh6 Nxh6 26 g4

Dec-01-06 Deep Fritz vs Kramnik, 2006 (replies)

mstover: Oh, Bxf7. doh.

Nov-27-06 Deep Fritz vs Kramnik, 2006 (replies)

mstover: I like that he kept the bishop for now. The queen and bishop exert good pressure onto the king side while he pushes the queen pawns a little further. I felt trading simplified things for white too much.

   Nov-24-06 Kramnik - Deep Fritz (2006) (replies)

mstover: I have a copy of Fritz. It has no endgame database. If you parted me with my memory, I would not be me. But Fritz is clearly still Fritz with or without the endgame database (actually, with the database, the "fritz" part gets more or less turned off, so maybe it's not still Fritz) -

Oct-10-06 Topalov vs Kramnik, 2006 (replies)

mstover: <Watching all these Quen Gambit games, I'm going to have to play 1.d4 more often> Playing what they play in the WC seems a sure way NOT to catch your opponent off guard. I see so many 1.Nf3 these days when I'm playing black.

Sep-28-06 Kramnik - Topalov World Championship Match (2006) (replies)

mstover: <acirce: It would be outrageous if Danailov's demand of stopping players from using their rest rooms (!) were met> From what I understand, the demands are that players use the public bathrooms, which are under surveillance, and that the players be escorted to the bathroom. ...
