   May-15-20 V Hruby vs Paulsen, 1882 (replies)

rookchat9: This game wouldn't look out of place in a modern day international tournament. Good standard of play being displayed by both players considering it's over a century old.

   Jan-02-20 C Hoi vs D King, 1985

rookchat9: Presumably if 46....Bxg4 then 47. Bxg7+ Kxg7 48. Qxg5+ followed by further exchanges and a won endgame for White?

   Oct-25-19 J Adamski vs S Mohr, 1984 (replies)

rookchat9: Adam's missed 17. Re1!

   Oct-09-19 E Bozzali vs E Paoli, 2001 (replies)

rookchat9: Presumably he is no longer with us? What a great advert for playing chess, I bet he didn't suffer from dementia even aged 93!

   Oct-12-18 Geller vs H Liebert, 1970 (replies)

rookchat9: A double rook sacrifice in that position wouldn’t occur to me in a month of Sundays? It just goes to show how rich a game chess is!

   Jun-20-16 A A Webster vs K Arkell, 1989

rookchat9: move 23. .... a5?? Surely 23. .... Bb4! winning the exchange.

   Mar-04-16 R T Black vs J Bernstein, 1913 (replies)

rookchat9: For a Ruy Lopez played in 1913 it seems pretty much up to date with modern opening theory - I am impressed with it. Having said that on move 24 I would have tried 24. RxB as it seems Black is way behind in development and then either 25. Bg5 or 25. Rf1 come into reckoning. Anyhow ...

   Nov-26-15 M Bruedigam vs E Berend, 2015

rookchat9: A win on time.......presumeably?
