I favor unorthodox openings, as these have given better results than more conventional lines. 1.a3 is a ready line for me (I've faced, no joke, every opening reply by Black against it--even Nh6 on one occasion) as White; I prefer to play as Black if given the choice (I find playing Black more versatile).

schnarre: ...<Honza Cervenka> By move 15 White really doesn't have many options with such a constricted position. Perhaps 15. Nc2 with the intent of forcing a later b4 following the Rook exchange as a possible start?!

schnarre: Yet another game that shows the hazards of deploying the Queen too early.

schnarre: Have to wonder if Black expected the delayed exchange: Black's play after move 7 shows little familiarity.

schnarre: ...<WorstPlayerEver> Indeed! White has free & active piece play very early on in this game.

schnarre: 3...Be7 reminds me of the Cunningham line in the King's Gambit Accepted, but without the active play: it seems too slow when used in the Philidor.

schnarre: ...Can we say "oops".
