Jun-24-13 Caruana vs Gelfand, 2013 (replies)

thendcomes: Gelfand really played spectacularly this whole tournament, playing with surgical precision after his opponents' mistakes. Chessexplained video annotates this game in his Tal Memorial series (link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIvg... ). It's excellent and I recommend watching ...

Feb-05-13 Nunn vs Seirawan, 1983 (replies)

thendcomes: Seirawan goes over this game himself at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cP8G...

Jan-16-13 Aronian vs Anand, 2013 (replies)

thendcomes: <ptr> you are incorrect. He doesn't say "I found it at the board," he said "I'd find it at the board." That is to say if he didn't already know it. Check Aronian saying Ne5 is the theoretical line here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?featur... The only ! move he found over ...

thendcomes: In case anyone was wondering about the pun: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncle_... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjBY...

   Nov-27-12 P Soderberg vs Taimanov, 1998 (replies)

thendcomes: <OhioChessFan> The game is already lost. After 57. Kf2 Qd2+, there is a forced Queen exchange (58. Qe2) or a quick mate. On move 58, Kg1 is mate in 1 (58. ...Qg2#), Kg3 is mate in 2 (58. ...Qg2+ 59. Kxh3 Qf2#) and Kf1 is mate in 3 (58. ...Qg2+ 59. Ke1 Nf3+ 60. Kd1 Qd2#)

   Sep-19-12 J Pelikan vs B Wexler, 1972 (replies)

thendcomes: The continuation I see after 28...♘e5 is 29. ♖h1+ ♗h3 30. ♖xh3+ ♔xh3 31. ♘g5+ ♔h4 (♔h2) 32. ♘xf7 ♘xg6 33. ♘xh8 ♘xh8 34. ♘xf4 with 2 extra pawns, but it's unclear if he can keep both of the extra pawns.

   Aug-29-12 M Abeln vs Minasian, 2003 (replies)

thendcomes: It's a cool game because the offbeat opening leads to a neat middle game, but it's not a good game in my opinion. A higher rated player played a dubious opening, the lower rated player gained advantage and then blundered the advantage. Nothing brilliant going on.

   Aug-27-12 L Cyborowski vs A Gasik, 2005

thendcomes: Thank you <scormus>. Those are the moves I was thinking and it's certainly harder to be black in that position. His moves in the actual game just made me cringe!

   Jul-26-12 Y Hou vs Polgar, 2012 (replies)

thendcomes: <JointheArmy> <Because Koneru couldn't muster anything more than a draw and Polgar got blew off the board by Hou? Forget best women's player, Hou could be giving Magnus a run for his money in a few years time.> You're clearly a big Yifan fan, but relax on the ...
