I'm a 16 year old Russian Jew who lives in San Francisco. Im not religious and I speak English, Russian, French fluently, and a bit of Spanish. Philosophy is easily my most favorite subject (apart from girls), followed by Economics ( any other typical jewish boy, lol).

I have a black belt in Kenpo Karate after 11 years, and now I've been starting Judo. Done it for about 2 years and I'm Junior National Champion. The only other sport i really like is Soccer, Go Chelsea!

I taught myself music theory and now i play the guitar quite well. I recently started playing chess again and have since become an 1800 strenght player, but havn't had any lessons. I mostly play d4 unless i feel in excellent form to play e4. I tend to respond with the Sicilian, French, Dutch, or the old Queens Gambit Declined.

vampiero: but how often does White actually play a4? I've seen it but its pretty rare

vampiero: Merci szunzein de parler Francais, je sais que ca donne une impression que tu sais de quoi tu parle mais moi aussie je peu parler francais. Et juste si tu savais pas, c'est un conversation sur Napoleon et non pas Mozart.
Jan-29-06 Anand vs Gelfand, 2006 (replies)
vampiero: a beatiful game in which Anand sets up his position, then steals the initiative to create Kingside anarchy, and then plays a very precise passive endgame to advance his pawn majority.
Jan-22-06 Topalov vs Gelfand, 2006 (replies)
vampiero: pawn islands tend to be a weakness when there are many pieces on the board such as middlegames or the begginning of an endgame with alot of pieces is bad too. But in this case, Gelfand has a passed pawn on the a-file which is a strength. Read My System by Nimzowitsch to understand ...

vampiero: ??? I dont quite understand, are you saying his play would be worse if he didnt' have a smoking/drinking lifestyle, or perhaps u mean he wouldn't be as much of a genius?

vampiero: can someone explain to me why 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Nxe5 d6 4. Nf3 Nxe4 5. d3 isn't played, because after ...Nf6 6. d4 is played its the exact same position as the mainline except Blacks knight is back on the f6 and not in the middle of the board?
Dec-30-05 Morozevich vs Motylev, 2005 (replies)
vampiero: Black doen'st have any pieces to make a serious claim to the kingside, if anything, he can battle for the queenside but realisticly hes gotta aim for a tough route just to get a draw
