DirkMcCallahan: I honestly believe that Chucky had a legitimate chance at winning Candidates 2013 had there been an increment/delay in place. He had winning positions in many of the flagged games, and of course, he beat both Carlsen and Kramnik.
Nov-11-19 GCT Bucharest Rapid & Blitz (2019) (replies)
DirkMcCallahan: The homepage says that "finishing in the top 2 overall...will secure a berth in the 2020 Candidates Tournament." Surely that's wrong?!
   Oct-09-19 World Cup (2019) (replies)
DirkMcCallahan: According to Wiki it seems as if MVL has already qualified for a potential wildcard slot, so my question here is more theoretical than anything, but what would happen if no player met FIDE's requirements for the wildcard? Is there any provision in the official rules for such ...
   Aug-16-19 Sinquefield Cup (2019) (replies)

Nov-29-18 Carlsen - Caruana World Championship Match (2018) (replies)
DirkMcCallahan: <beatgiant: <DirkMcCallahan> Yes, you are confused. If Carlsen's chance of winning or drawing is .63, then <Carlsen's> chance of losing would have to be .37.> Of course; you're right. But I'm still not sure how Carlsen can have a .63 chance of winning OR ...
Nov-28-18 Carlsen vs Caruana, 2018 (replies)
DirkMcCallahan: Do these games count towards the players' rapid ratings?
Nov-13-18 Carlsen vs Caruana, 2018 (replies)
DirkMcCallahan: <moronovich: The headline of the day will be the Caruana material that has been leaked.> All I saw was a still frame showing an open laptop with some Carlsen-Karjakin games (which doesn't seem to be terribly privileged information). Was there something else that came ...
