Nov-08-13 Anand - Carlsen World Championship Match (2013) (replies)

Sui Generis: By the way, does anyone know what is going to happen with the world championships after the match in 2014? Or does even FIDE know? A 12-game match every second year would be fine, but having a title match every year devalues the title.

Aug-15-08 Karjakin vs Radjabov, 2008 (replies)

Sui Generis: A truly great game by Radjabov and a pleasure to watch live. Two exchange sacrifices in the same game, remember the classic Petrosian vs Spassky, 1966 ?

   May-08-08 Teimour Radjabov (replies)

Sui Generis: It's sad to see that one of my favourite players, Radjabov, is so terribly out of his game. He suffered three losses in the Grand Prix with White, which is just terrible by any standards. He gets good positions but as the game progresses he blunders them into losses. Probably he

   Jan-27-08 Corus Group A (2008) (replies)

Sui Generis: <hovik 2003> <Aronian, Carlsen, Radjabov were a little better than their usual selves.> Let's not forget that Radjabov has actually performed really well in recent strong round-robins he has participated: Linares 2006 second and Corus 2007 shared first.

   Dec-11-07 World Cup (2007) (replies)

Sui Generis: <cotdt> Those 'world champions' were already nullified by the nonexistent prestige of the knockout format... I'm afraid you're making the mistake of trying to find logic in FIDE's actions.

Nov-22-07 World Blitz Championship (2007) (replies)

Sui Generis: 196 moves...

   Aug-20-07 David Bronstein (replies)

Sui Generis: Tie-breaks (at least these rapid/blitz tiebreaks which we see too much these days) are a modern invention in chess. In 1951-93 the reigning world champion had draw-odds, because the challenger hadn't proven his superiority. A 12-12 tie occurred in 1951 (Botvinnik-Bronstein), ...

Aug-01-07 Kasparov - Anand PCA World Championship Match (1995) (replies)

Sui Generis: The picture is just promotional, the actual games were played under normal conditions. You can find videos of games 8, 9 and 10 at YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0Qh...

   Jul-29-07 Vasyl Ivanchuk (replies)

Sui Generis: In his current form Ivanchuk would be a very potential candidate for the World Championship title. I'd like to see him winning the World Cup, but in that knockout garbage he probably again drops out in the second round blitz tiebreak to some NN and eventually we get a title ...
