David William Anderton was a lawyer and international director of the British Chess Federation (BCF). He was a former president of the BCF. Anderton served as captain of the English chess olympiad team for many years. Anderton was a Candidate Master and an IMC.

My last game against him was in the British Seniors Championship held at Swansea University in Round One on the 12th August 2006.He was the highest graded player in the event at 2266.
