GrahamClayton: Winner of the 1915 Amsterdam and Rotterdam tournaments. Participated in the Hauptturnier B tournament at Mannheim in 1914.
Dec-24-13  Karpova: Amsterdam, Easter Tournament of the <Vereenigd Amsterdamsch Schaakgenootschap>, Class A (probably 1915):

1. G J van Gelder 4.0
2. M Marchand 3.0
3. H van Hartingsveldt 2.5
4-5. K Geus 2.0
4-5. Z W te Kolste 2.0
6. W A T Schelfhout 1.5

Van Gelder lost only a single game, against Marchand, so he must have scored +4 -1 =0.

There was also a Class B, which G A C Oskam (Rotterdam) and H G Reeders (Amsterdam) won with 2 points.

Dec-24-13  Karpova: The Winter Tournament of the Utrecht Chess Club saw G J van Gelder winning ahead of Dr. Olland (2nd) and A E van Foreest (3rd). Shortly afterwards, van Gelder beat Dr. Olland in a match 5:3.

Dec-24-13  Nosnibor: <Karpova> According to the games shown in the database it would appear that these are at odds with the report in the "Wiener Schachzeitung".The 9 games given here result in a 5-4 win for Olland.Perhaps there was another match?
Dec-24-13  thomastonk: "De Telegraaf" of April 21, 1915 (very rough translation): <The winner of the 6-player tournament in Amsterdam, G.J. van Gelder has just won a match against the well-known dutch player Dr.A.G. Olland with +4, -2, =2.

This is the first time that Olland lost such a match.

A return match under the same conditions - 5 points necessary for a win - will begin already in the next week.>

I've briefly searched for this return match within the next two months, too, but in vain. Now I'm going to celebrate Christmas. Merry Christmas!

MissScarlett: The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of September 30th 1915, p.21:

<Most notable is the reappearance of Dr. A. G. Olland of Utrecht, who formerly was a prominent factor in international chess. Not long ago he lost a match to G. J. Van Gelder, Holland's coming master player, but he retrieved his fortunes in a second match, in which he won the first three games and scored 2 1/2 points out of the next six. He also won the first game of a third match started by these experts.>
