Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-03-04  Helloween: A truly creative player. Many of his games contain interesting and unique ideas. Often, he likes to initiate wild tactical struggles. He has victories over former world championship challengers Korchnoi and Short, has drawn former world champions Petrosian and Karpov, and has many other impressive games against top GMs. He has over 30 years of tournament experience under his belt.

May-06-05  PivotalAnorak: Did he also give up chess to become a lawyer, just like his colleagues Johann Hjartarson and Margeir Petursson ? Too bad for Icelandic chess, but hey it's their choice.
Dec-20-05  karlth: He is a business graduate. Of the first 6 first Icelandic grandmasters 4 are laywers.

That makes him 17 years old at that time...How could he have won the "Under 16" world championship?

There was a special accomodation made as he was young for his age.

Jan-24-12  galdur: GMs Helgi Olafsson and Jon L. Arnason

Oct-10-16  Howard: CL&R had a short article about his World-Under-16 title, back in late 1977.

It mentioned that Kasparov was in the tournament too, but it didn't state that Kasparov had beaten him.
