Sep-29-04  shr0pshire: Illescas is one of the three listed chess coaches for Kramnik for the 2004 world championships.

Impressive that Kramnik chose him and two other russians.

Very interesting!

GrahamClayton: Illescas was involved in an unusual incident in the final round of the 2011 Spanish Championship. He was playing Olga Alexandrova, who happens to be his wife. A win for either would have won them the title, but might have raised suspicions of a "fixed" game. On the other hand, playing a long game while waiting to see how other games finished would also be a little dodgy, so Illescas and Alexandrova agreed on a 10-move draw. Illescas finished =1st with Alvar Alonso Rosell, but lost the title on a tie-break.
Nov-09-12  tzar: Sr. Illescas: if you ever read this post I would like to hear your opinion, as one of the people who helped to programme Deep Blue, about Kasparov's allegations of cheating...how he got to this conclusion and if in your opinion his allegations were founded or excuses of a bad looser....Gracias por anticipado...
