Master Norms
<International Master Norms> Pouya gathered his three IM norms from the World U18 Championship (2010), the World Chess Tour GM Tournament in Moscow in 2010 and the 4th Karen Asrian Memorial in 2011. (1)
<Grandmaster Norms> Pouya's GM norms were awarded for his results at the Kazar Open in 2012, the World U18 Championship in 2013 and the Tromso Olympiad (2014) at Tromsø. (2)
Championships
<Youth> Pouya competed in numerous youth events, the most successful being 2nd place at the 7th Dubai Juniors Chess Championship in 2008, 2nd in the 4th World Schools Chess U13 Championships 2008 in Singapore, 2nd place at the Iranian U14 Championship in 2009, =5th at the World U14 Championship 2009, 2nd at the Iranian U18 Championship in Tehran in 2009, winning the Iranian U18 championship in 2011, =3rd at the World U18 Championship in 2012 and winning the World U18 Championship in 2013.
<National> He was 3rd in the Iranian Championship of 2011.
<Continental> He played in the Asian Continental Championship 2014, scoring 4.5/9, and in the Asian Continental Championship of 2015, when he scored 5/9.
<World> Pouya won the Zonal 3.1 Championship that was staged in Oman with 8/9 ahead of Ehsan Ghaem Maghami, and thereby earned the right to compete in the World Cup (2015) there he met and lost to Shakhriyar Mamedyarov in the first round to bow out of the tournament. He qualified again for the FIDE World Cup (2021) where, ranked 85th, he defeated Ziaur Rahman 2-0 in the first round, David Anton Guijarro 1.5-0.5 in the second round, and 21st-seed Evgeny Tomashevsky 2.5-1.5 in the third round. He was eliminated in the fourth round by the eventual winner Jan-Krzysztof Duda .
Tournaments
One of Pouya's earliest excursions into the "big time" was when as a thirteen year old he played at the 2nd International Orumia Open in Iran, scoring 6.5/11 and adding 55 rating points to his card. In August 2010 he was second at the 9th Iranian Chess Festival hosted in Mashhad in Iran and 3rd at the category 5 World Chess Tour GM Tournament in Moscow in 2010 in November-December 2010. In September 2011, he was =1st at the 3rd Zendeh Roud International Open and in February 2012 he was =2nd at the 2nd Ferdowsi International Open played in Mashhad alongside Sergei Tiviakov and half a point behind Arman Pashikian. In March 2012, Pouya won the 10th Kazar Cup that was hosted in Rasht City in Iran, gaining his first GM norm. He scored a strong 5.5/9 at the Aeroflot Open (2015). He was =4th behind Gadir Guseinov, Eltaj Safarli and Levan Pantsulaia at the Nakhchivan Open (2015) in May 2015. He was =2nd behind Pouria Darini at the 4th International Sardaran E Shahid Azarbaijan Cup in July 2015.
Team events
Pouya represented Iran on board three at the U16 Olympiad hosted in Kocaeli in 2011, and supported his team to a bronze medal with 6.5 points from 10 games (+6 -1 =3). He also played for Iran at the 2012 and 2014 Olympiads on board four and board three respectively. He also played in the Tehran League in 2008 and commenced in the Iranian Superleague in 2009, 2012 & 2013. He was also a member of the Iranian team that played the Armenia-Iran Friendly Match in 2010 (Armenia won).
