Penguincw: Congrats to Pouya Idani for joining the leaders at the Nakhchivan Open 2015. Entering Round 7, Pantsulaia and Safarli led the way with 5/6, but Idani has now joined them with 5.5/7, with just 2 rounds to go! In Round 7, he beat Mirzoev to join with black. The round before that, he upset 2nd seed Bacrot with white.

In Round 8, he has white against Pantsulaia.

< Mar-15-12 Penguincw: Congratz to Idani Pouya! Also noted was that Sergei Tiviakov played as well. >

Speaking of Tiviakov, Tiviakov is also playing at this tournament, but he's only the 6th seed (and in exactly 6th place currently); Idani is the 17th seed here.

Penguincw: Idani would draw his R8 game against Pantsulaia, but lost to Eltaj Safarli in the last round, who would end up winning the tournament. Overall, Idani finished with 6/9 (+4,-1,=4), and in a 9-way tie for 4th (and 4th after tiebreaks).

He also gained 16.5 rating points to move from 2526 to 2542.5.
