[what is this?]

Grandmaster (1999).

Championships

<Youth> He competed in the European U16 Championship in 1992 in Rimavska Sobota scoring 5/9, two from the lead, and in the World U16 Championship played in Duisberg in 1992, and scored 7/11, 1.5 points behind the winner Peter Svidler. Another attempt at the European U16 Championship in 1993 in Szombathely 1993 resulted in Iordachescu scoring 6/9 for equal fourth place, 1.5 points behind the winner Robert Kempinski. He also contested the World U18 Championship in Szeged in 1994, and finished on equal sixth with 6/9, 1.5 points behind the winner, again being Peter Svidler.

<Junior> Iordachescu first chanced his arm at the top level of Junior play when the seventeen-year-old contested the World Junior Championship in 1994 in Matinhos (in Brazil), finishing in the middle of the field with 6.5/13. He fared slightly better in 1995, scoring 7.5/13, albeit still 2.5 points off the lead, while he returned the same result in the World Junior in 1996 in Medellin. His final attempt at the World Junior was the most successful, his 8.5/13 at the 1997 event securing him equal sixth position, a point behind the winner Tal Shaked and co-leader on points, Vigen Mirumian.

<Continental> Iordachescu has participated in the European Championship since 2001. In the European Individual Championship (EICC) of 2003, he placed equal fourth with 8.5/13 to qualify for the World Championship Knockout Tournament in 2004 (see below). He scored 7.5/11 in the 12th European Individual Championship (2011), placing 22nd on tiebreak and thereby qualifying for the World Cup 2011.

<World> His first attempt at the World Championship cycle was in 1995 when he contested the Nikolaev Zonal 1.7b, albeit without qualifying for the next stage. At the FIDE World Championship Knockout Tournament (2000), Iordachescu won his first round match against Michele Godena, but bowed out in the second round match to Sergei Movsesian in the rapid game tiebreakers. He placed second at Zonal 1.8 at Minsk in 2000 qualifying for, but not ultimately playing in, the FIDE World Championship Knockout Tournament (2001/02). After qualifying via the EICC 2003, he played in the FIDE World Championship Knockout Tournament (2004), winning against Ivan Eduardo Morovic-Fernandez in the first round but he again lost in the second round, this time to Sergei Vladimirovich Rublevsky in the second set of rapid tiebreakers. Seven years later, having qualified for the World Cup (2011) through the EICC 2011 (see above), he lost in the first round rapid game tiebreaker to French GM Sebastien Feller, thereby bowing out of the event. He qualified via the EICC 2014 for the World Cup (2015), where he lost his first round match to the young Chinese champion Yu Yangyi.

<National> He was Moldovan Champion in 2016.

He was equal first alongside Vladimir Olegovich Baklan and Yuri Kruppa at the category eleven Kiev Spring Tournament also in March 2000. In early 2002, he was third behind Ian Rogers and Andrei Istratescu at the category eight Corus Invitational GM tournament and scored 6.5/9, half a point from the ten co-leaders of the Cappelle la Grande in February 2002. Apr-19-05  aw1988: Some may think of Iordachescu as a veteran like Vaganian, but in fact he is only celebrating his 28th birthday shortly. I remember him being quite the talented junior, don't know much more than that.
