chancho: The player picture of Artimiev on this page shows a kid around 12 years of age.

Here he is as he looks today:

Jan-27-19  Whitehat1963: Is he ready for prime time yet?
Jan-28-19  Gallicrow: He's spanking everyone at Gibraltar so far. He's Black against Aronian in round 8 though. http://chess-results.com/tnr377792....
Jan-28-19  PhilFeeley: He could win Gibraltar this year. He's in first place - alone - after beating...Nakamura!

chancho: He held Aronian to a draw in today's game.

(also drew MVL in an earlier round)

Jumping to #20 in the world meanwhile.

Jan-31-19  Jambow: Hmmmm something tells me we will hear much more from this young man...
Jan-31-19  boz: Artemiev really impressed me at Gibralter. Beating Naka, Navara and Yu is hard enough but I especially liked the gutsy, uncompromising way he did it. I agree with Jambow above. Magnus, watch out!
Feb-01-19  wordfunph: Gibraltar International solo winner --- GM Vladislav Artemiev, congrats!

Penguincw: Congrats to Vladislav Artemiev for winning the very tough Gibraltar Masters (2019).

Had some good games. Solo first, undefeated. Includes a win vs. Nakamura.

Mar-05-19  sonia91: Today, on his 21st birthday, Artemiev beat Alireza Firouzja in the World Team Championship and his win gave the victory to Russia over Iran, as his teammates drew.

HeMateMe: he looks a little like Magnus, doesn't he?
Mar-28-19  Whitehat1963: Playing very well lately, but all his wins have come against weaker competition. Now that he’s in the top 15 he’ll start getting invited to super tournaments and prove that he’s not just on a hot streak against weaker players. I don’t think he’s ready for the truly elite. I hope I’m wrong. I like to see meteoric rises.
Mar-29-19  fisayo123: New <European Champion>. He's been the best player of 2019. Time for some big super tournament invites. The chess world needs some new faces at the top tournaments instead of the same recycled faces.
Mar-29-19  boz: Artemiev again. It's getting scary.
Mar-29-19  sonia91: Congratulations to Vladislav on becoming European Champion!!

This is also his 3rd success in a row: Gibraltar Masters (2019), World Team Chess Championship (2019) (winning two gold medals: team and individual on reserve board; at this event he was nicknamed "Chuck Norris" by Grischuk) and European Championship (2019)!

MissScarlett: He's scored +18 =11 across those events.
Mar-29-19  Messiah: Ugly & extremely strong - please update the photo!

He is going to be a better World Champion than the rude, obnoxious and unfunny child, Magnus 'Justin Bieber' Carlsen.
