Are you sure that the scoring system is the tradition 1-1/2-0? Someone just told me that it's 3-1-0. http://www.londonchessclassic.com/c...
Section 4, Point 3
< Article 10.1. The player who wins the game, or wins by forfeit, scores 3 points, a player who loses his game, or forfeits, scores 0 points, a player who draws his game scores 1 point. > Or is it just for that bet? Thanks. :) |

I bet 300 and got paid only 409? Something's wrong. |
|
Dec-08-14
 | | Penguincw: Don't worry, you're not the only one that hates multiple payoffs. :) So basically, the money gets divided evenly into 3 pools (since there were 3 winners), and so the odds are significantly worse. :) |

Check the Discrepancies/Disputes on the Help Page.
<If there are two or more winning lines in an event (e.g. a tie for first place), all tickets for any winning bet will be paid off. The total "loser pool" (all chessbucks wagered on losing tickets) is split evenly across all winning pools—for example, with a three-way tie the loser pool (after juice) would be split into thirds. Then those smaller pools are distributed to the winners normally. When this happens, the odds payed will be substantially worse than the final posted odds.> |
|
| Dec-08-14 | | scout118: <Penguincw> Can you show me the math? Let the CG bookie answer, if you don't mind. Total pool was 11,595.
Total winning bets: 6,363
That's still a 1:1.82 ratio |

For the Nakamura pool, the odds get stepped down to approx. 1.36 with a third of the kitty. Thanks. |

Was it possible to set a Pick 3 for the
London Classic ? Could be last chance for the bottomdwellers ;) |

Dec-09-14
 | | chessgames.com: <I bet 300 [on Nakamura] and got paid only 409? Something's wrong.> These tied bets are always confusing. It always seems like you get paid a lot less than you'd expect, but everything adds up. The house took its usual 5% cut and distributed everything back. Let me walk you through the math of 6th London Chess Classic Elite Blitz 2014: Tournament Winner. Here are the pools, where (*) denotes a winning player: Caruana - 1,070
Anand - 3,066
Nakamura (*) - 4,528
Kramnik (*) - 1,240
Giri - 1,096
Adams (*) - 595
Step 1: Combine all of the losing money into a single pool: 1,070 + 3,066 + 1,096 = 5,232. Step 2: Take 5% juice off the top: 5,232 * 0.95 = 4,970. (Note that we always round off in favor of the house.) Step 3: Divide that pool three ways for the three winners: 4,970 / 3 = 1,656. (Again, rounded in favor of the house.) Step 4: For each of the three winning players, distribute the 1656 proportionally among the winning tickets. For example, suppose you had 300 c$ on Nakamura. 300 is about 1/15th of 4,528 so a winning ticket will receive about 1/15th of 1,656 (109) plus the original 300. So a 300 c$ ticket cashed in for 409 is exactly right. |

The CG Bookie actually got it explained about four posts before this, but thanks for the rather painstaking and mathematically detailed explanation.Makes one appreciate customer service and the value of being a (premium) member! Speaking for myself, let me add that this "gaming" feature is what makes this site unique and interesting enough for daily visits compared with other chess sites, as having a "stake", however virtual, makes you follow the more important games and events as they unfold. |

Nearly 4 to 1 for Kramnik to win with the white pieces! And the first time I've ever put a single $20 bet on the pick three and won. I'm back in the game, lol |

 | | Penguincw: What if for 6th London Chess Classic 2014 Round 4: Kramnik - Caruana, there is a bishop promotion and the game ends with a draw and 5 bishops on the board? Sorry for the stupid questions, but being at the #12 spot, everyone (including User: Everyone ;) ) is watching my every move, and these little bets will matter... |
|
Dec-12-14
 | | WannaBe: <Penguincw> I highly, highly, highly, HIGHLY doubt that would happen. =)) |

Dec-12-14
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Penguincw> Promoted bishop is included in the inventory. However, all tickets will be refunded if the game ends in a draw with 5 or more bishops on the board. If that happens, I will shave my head clean. Good luck. |

| Dec-18-14 | | MarkFinan: Komodolol is nearly +2.00 up in it's game with stockfish.... But was this bet on this single game or the whole match? If it's on this game then I'm okay with that, but if it's on the match as a whole then I'll be wanting my chessbucks back, lol✌ |

That's what I'm lolling talking about. How long left till this leg ends, because I'm planning on winning? Lol |

Dec-20-14
 | | Penguincw: Yeah, any idea when this leg will come to an end? I need to plan my moves accordingly... |
|
Dec-21-14
 | | Penguincw: Oh, and second question: what if there's a tie for 12th place? This is actually a realistic situation. I don't want to get into too much detail, but if both my bets win today, and <Kynas> remains inactive, there will be a tie for 12th place. |

| Dec-21-14 | | scout118: CG Bookie /wordfunph,
Not sure if possible, but it would be great to have the scores for completed games consistently updated before the leader board is updated. Right now, it's done sometimes before and sometimes after the leaderboard update - and takes a little guesswork to see where we stand.I think I speak for those in crucial battles for qualifying spots and for those who have an outside chance to still win this leg. Also would be good to know when you plan the fall leg to end. Anyway, thanks for doing such a great volunteer job, quietly appreciated by everyone, I believe. And Merry Christmas /Happy Holidays to you and the ChessGames guys. Maligayang pasko at salamat po. Merci. Arigatou. |
