Good luck. I expect that this quarter I will get the <rockin' pneumonia and the bookie wookie flu>.

Jan-01-15  dakgootje: <At least until you have a safe lead?>

Well, yes of course. :D

But we're already trailing SQ! All because of miss Annie somehow not being late. I mean.. of all the days in the year that she could've picked to actually arrive on time..

Chessgames Bookie: Heh. Hold on, it seems that we just had a major upset in Hastings. Apparently IM Galyas beat GM Rodshtein... Srsly?

Maybe I should wait a bit with the payoffs, to be on the safe side.

Chessgames Bookie: It has to be said that Rodshtein's situation here does look legitimately horrid...

OK, I'm convinced. :)

I agree!

Hastings Round 4: Daily Double : White-White [cash in ticket] 3 YOU WIN! COLLECT 317 105:1 105.78 317 Jan-01-15

I wonder who has the other third of this (whatever you call a 3-way jackpot).

And I can't forget about the semi-jackpot. :)

SwitchingQuylthulg: With big opens, I normally waited for the results (and the next round's pairings) to appear at Chess-Results, by which time they were usually reliable. But that was just playing it extra-safe; it's unlikely waiting will make a difference.

<Penguincw> That would be me :-)

Annie K.: <Switch> thanks, I was curious about what's your go-to site for reliable results. Can all (or most) tournaments be found at Chess-Results? How do you find them if the organizer's homepage doesn't link to them?

I probably would have been more cautious too if it were the official leg, but seeing as it's still just the foot... ;p

SwitchingQuylthulg: <Annie> Most (though not all) Swiss System tournaments can be found at Chess-Results, simply because they use Chess-Results-affiliated software to manage the results and pairings.

Finding a tournament at Chess-Results is fairly easy; just go to the Chess-Results front page (http://chess-results.com/), which has a list of the most recent tournament updates. If your tournament doesn't appear on that list (which is quite possible), selecting the appropriate federation (in this case "ENG") from the list of federations will make it one of the top results and very easy to find. And if all else fails, there's always the tournament search (http://chess-results.com/TurnierSuc...) :)

Penguincw: Grr. Somebody messed up my odds in Hastings Round 5: Pick Three at the last minute. I had a jackpot lined up for over half the outcomes, and someone slapped on 5 more cbs. >:(

Normally I wouldn't mind, but it seems that the only time I actually play well is well it doesn't matter: the preseason...

Out of those 4 suspiciously named people, it doesn't surprise me who withdrew from the tournament. :)
