YouRang: <lostemperor> If you are planning to use the software to parse predictions, may I suggest that you post some rules regarding how to enter those predictions in such a way that the software will understand them (without you having to edit them)? The software is fairly robust, and it will already handle most of the methods people use. But here are some standard guidelines:
<Be sure to specify a rank>
This is correct:
1. Topalov
2. Leko
3. Bacrot
This is incorrect:
Topalov
Leko
Bacrot
<Enter a separate line for each rank>
This is correct:
1. Topalov
2. Leko
3. Bacrot
This is incorrect:
1. Topalov 2. Leko 3. Bacrot
<If you want to enter ties, make sure you skip the unused ranks.>
This is correct:
1. Topalov
2. Leko
2. Bacrot
4. Ivanchuk
This is incorrect:
1. Topalov
2. Leko
2. Bacrot
3. Ivanchuk
<You can enter more than one player per line if you intend for them be tied.>
For example:
1. Topalov
2. Leko, Bacrot
4. Ivanchuk
<You may add commentary after the player's name if you like.>
For example:
1. Topalov - He's really hot now, yup, no stopping him yada yada...
2. Leko - Been in the dumps lately but I bet he's hopping mad now and yada yada...
3. Bacrot - His name spelled backwards is "Torcab", but don't let that fool you yada yada...
(If you do this, put blank lines between names so that the chessgames.com text fixer-upper won't make the lines all run together. Always use "Preview Kibitz")
<Identify players with their last name (at least)>
This is correct:
1. Topalov
2. Peter Leko (note: "Peter" is optional)
3. Ivanchuk
This is incorrect:
1. Veselin T.
2. Drawko
3. Chukky
<Finally, be sure that you provide a rank for EVERY player.>
If you miss one, the software will reject your prediction.>
There are other formats that the software will recognize as well, but it's preferable that people stick the the formats discussed above.
