The 1993 Dortmund International Chess Tournament was a category XVI event. Eight players, including the new FIDE world champion, competed in a round robin format. The participants were (in order of ELO): Anatoli Karpov (2760), Vladimir Kramnik (2710), Gata Kamsky (2655), Joel Lautier (2645), Eric Lobron (2620), Sergey Dolmatov (2615), Grigory Serper (2600), and Christopher Lutz (2550).
