US Open 1922, Louisville = 23rd Western Champ.
Compiled by Phony Benoni

<23rd Western Championship Louisville, Kentucky
August 28-September 5, 1922>

In what would be his last Western Championship, Edward Lasker's three-year streak was ended by Samuel D Factor, with Norman Whitaker finishing second. About this time, prestigious tournaments that came to overshadow the Western began to be held regularly in the United States. Lasker, now a successful businessman with less time for chess, began to concentrate on bigger events and won't show up here again until 1947.
