2011 Spice Cup (Group B)
Compiled by gauer
--*--

Spice Cup (2010) (previous main event), Spice Cup (Group B) (2010) (previous B Group) and both a main event: SPICE Cup (2011) and C Group (see Game Collection: 2011 Spice Cup (group C) under construction) exists for the October 15th-19th event.

Held at Lubbock, Texas.

ROUNDS 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 total country/team/title (if not USA/ if any/if a GM at the time of tournament) 1 Roberto Mogranzini RM 2w0 5b3 0w1 4b3 3w3 9b3 7w1 8b0 5w3 17 Italy 2 Anatoly Bykhovsky AB 1b3 6b3 5w1 0b3 4w1 3b3 9w1 7b1 8w1 17 3 Enrico M Sevillano ES 6w1 9w3 7b3 8w1 1b0 2w0 5b3 0w3 3b0 14 4 Mackenzie Molner MM 9b1 7w3 8b3 1w0 2b1 5w1 0b1 6b0 4w3 13 5 Darwin Yang DY 8b1 1w0 2b1 6b3 0w3 5b1 3w0 9b3 7w1 13 6 Mesgen Amanov MA 3b1 2w0 9b1 5w0 7b3 0w1 6b1 4w3 1b0 10 Turkmenistan GM 7 Dean Ippolito DI 0w3 4b0 3w0 9b0 6w0 8w3 1b1 2w1 5b1 9 8 Marc Tyler Arnold MT 5w1 0b1 4w0 3b1 9w1 7b0 8w1 1w3 2b1 9 9 Denes Boros DB 4w1 3b0 6w1 7w3 8b1 1w0 2b1 5w0 9b1 8 Hungarian (Texas Tech student) GM 10 Lev Milman LM 7b0 8w1 1b1 2w0 5b0 6b1 4w1 3b0 8w1 5

(Note: 2w0 (xyz) means the player on this row played the player on row x=2 with colour y=white, but lost, so z=0 (where x is an element of <<1, 2, 3, etc, ..., 10>>, y is an element of <<white, black>>, z is an element of <<0, 1, 3>>) a win is worth 3 (not 1) and a draw is (not , but) worth 1 instead).

A player scoring 6/9 (under normal FIDE scoring) would be competing for the potential to receive a GM norm chance. The group B's category 10 (2483 - original <planned> rating average) changed slightly after slight changes had to be made to the A and C groups. GM Alexander Onischuk had to withdrawal from another section because of a family emergency; Joshua E Friedel was substituted in for Eltaj Safarli who had to return to play in a European chess league event. Therefore, a number of formatting changes to the pairings were required to be made to the planned A, B and C groups in the final weeks before the tournament's commencement.
