An Englishman: Good Evening: The inspiration for today's title comes from a book published by Adorjan entitled "Black is OK!" At the time this game occurred, Fischer's 6.Bc4 had begun to absorb quite a few negative results. Has made a bit of a comeback in this century: Ivanchuk vs Karjakin, 2008

  al wazir: White's ? gets trapped: 32. Kh1 Kxf7 33. Nd6+ Kf6 34. Nxc8 Bc5 35. Bc4 Bb7.
Oct-28-21  Z truth 000000001: <<An Englishman> Fischer's 6.Bc4 had begun to absorb quite a few negative results.>

Negative for whom?

I would read absorb as suggesting White, but Black fits better.

  al wazir: My post should read <White's ♘ gets trapped: 32. Kh1 Kxf7 33. Nd6+ Kf6 34. Nxc8 Bc5 35. Bc4 Bb7.>

  FSR: <al wazir> Isn't 33...Ke7 34.Nxc8+ Kd7 more efficient?

Teyss: <MissScarlett> I was about to make a sarcastic comment about favouring your own input but no, the game and pun are OK.

Even if White hadn't played 31.Rxf7, Black is much better with extra P, B pair and coordination.

Oct-28-21  Brenin: If 32 Kf1 then 32 ... Bb5 immediately wins a piece, and if 32 Kh1 then the N is trapped by 32 ... Kxf7 33 Nd6+ Ke7 34 Nxc8+ Kd7, as <FSR> has posted, or by <al wazir>'s line 33 Kf6 34 Nxc8 Bc5. These also work after 32 Kf1.
Oct-28-21  Stanco: whoop dee doo, he is tickety boo!
Oct-28-21  goodevans: Strange how the SF annotations don't pick up on all the twists and turns.

<23...h5?> was a mistake that should have been met by <24.Ba4!> completely diffusing the Black attack.

After <24...Qxa4 25.Rxe4> Black can't recapture on e4 because <25...Bxe4? 26.Qxe4 would fork R and B.

Oct-28-21  Ironmanth: Intriguing game! Thanks chessgames. Y'all stay safe out there today.
Oct-28-21  GlennOliver: Thank you for the explanation of the nice pun.

For any future (winning) game published for this player, may I suggest -

Hulak smash!

pittpanther: Dating my self a bit here but I actually own "Black is OK!" and purchased it when it first came out. I caught the pun immediately. I did not fare as well with the puzzle! :)

  al wazir: <FSR: Isn't 33...Ke7 34.Nxc8+ Kd7 more efficient?> Yes. Thanks.
Oct-28-21  Stanco: Hulak is pronounced *Hoollaack* in Croatian actually
Oct-29-21  GlennOliver: <stanco> Hulak is pronounced *Hoollaack* in Croatian actually

Then the (English) pun that suggests itself (if any of his losing games are published) is Hulakaday.

Oct-30-21  Stanco: <GlennOliver> alas you're correct 👌
